Love Turbo Tax

Very, Very Happy to have turbo tax. (Love it to pay less for the actual software....but that's life!).
What's great about it: Each year seems like Turbo Tax gets easier to use!
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have had trouble correcting line 68 on Form 1040. It won't let
me remove a 0. also when I try to efile it won't let me sign in with my password or ID.. so I can't file efile. really disappointed since I have used Turbo Tax for the last 13years and never had any trouble until now..
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: very hard to get around to different forms needed to correct

Check and recheck is needed to be sure you entered and was recorded. Then check again, again. I have used this program for 3 years and will do again next year.
What's great about it: That I was able to do this and did not have to pay anyone
What's not so great: I found that an entry wasn't saved, check and check and check
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Another painless year

What is it now, 13-14 years I've been using Turbo Tax.
Every year it seem's like it takes less time than the year before.
Only have had one problem (which was USER induced) but that was resolved with very little effort.
I've recommended TT to everyone I know.
Just make sure you update often.
What's great about it: ease of use, takes you by the hand and walks you through the process step by step
What's not so great: none that I can think of
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Does a great job on Federal

The ability to import all my mutual fund and 1099's quickly and conveniently is a great asset.
I find it's easier to do my Mn State tax form manually as TurboTax doesn't provide any detail on Additions and Subtractions to my Mn form. Specifically, handling Federal tax-exempt income that is not tax-exempt in Mn is problematic - TT failed to generate one of the forms I needed (M1M).
What's great about it: Import capability is great
What's not so great: Continue to be dissapointed with Mn State return

Form 8949 Confusion
on February 20, 2014
Posted by: Bergyy
I found the form 8949 related entries more oriented to getting you to buy an upgrade than simplifying entry. First it said it wasn't available on the Deluxe version and therefore required upgrade for a pricy $30. Then later it allowed a simple input of data (my transaction was simple) with no upgrade. After I completed my e-file, the instructions said I had to mail a hard copy of my 8949 which doesn't make much sense to me since it was included in my file. I searched you comments section and found an answer that seemed to concur with my feeling.
What is the official position?
What's great about it: Generally straight forward and easy to follow
What's not so great: too many requests for upgrade
