2013 - A divorce and a refi - Saved by Turbo Tax

2013 was a difficult year, went through a painful divorce then had to refinance my home to be able to afford to keep it. I've used Turbo Tax for years but this was the first year with these types of life changes that can majorly affect your taxes.
Turbo Tax proved once again to be the easy going friend with just the right tax advice and reminders needed to help me take my tax return by the horns myself and walk MY way through it carefully and sensibly. I was able to take my usual personal information and painlessly edit it to reflect my new life status. Turbo Tax even found an error where I had over looked a small section in the personal property - royalty part, leaving things marked 'married-filing jointly' and reminded me to update that information to be aligned with my 'divorced and head of house hold statuses' through the review procedures.
I was able to collect all of my needed documentation, complete, and efile my return before the IRS was ready to start processing them. When the January 31st date rolls around my return eforms will already be there ready for the IRS to push the button to accept and approve my 1040 tax forms.
Thank you Turbo Tax for making a potentially difficult and painful process as straight forward and stress-free as possible. The refund I will be receiving will help to payoff Christmas debt and take my daughters on a much-deserved family vacation!
What's great about it: Very easy to know what needs to be entered and in what sections.
What's not so great: Had to wait a week or two for state sales tax tables update to complete my return, but that's not Turbo Tax's fault

I'VE USE TURBO TAX FOR YEARS & HAVE ALWAYS BEN VERY PLEASED. I LOOK FORWARD TO USING IT IN 2014 & BEYOND FOR A NEW BUSINESS I'M STARTING AS WELL.
What's great about it: DETAILED INFO EVEN ON ISSUES THAT DON'T YET APPLY
What's not so great: INFO FROM PRIOR TAX YRS SHOULD BE IMPORTED INSTEAD OF MANUAL REFERENCE

WAS VERY HAPPY TO USE TURBO TAX. A FRIEND RECOMMENDED IT TO ME AND AT FIRST I WAS RELUCTANT BUT NOW I DONT KNOW WHY I DIDNT DO IT SOONER. VERY SATISFIED

Overall a great program. I personally would like to see the current tax tables to see what I owe based on my income. Of course, it's possible that is available and I just have not found it.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Fast calculations.
What's not so great: Does not show current tax tables

Gettin' my money

Turbo Tax took me step-by-step through my refund. All I had to do was answer easy questions that I know the answers to and I didn't need any knowledge of tax law to use it.

So easy, even I can do it!

I used to have a consulting business on top of my regular full time job and this made tax preparation much more difficult and potentially costly. I used the premium version during those years and really felt it did the job for me well. I've since become an employee for my consulting job and even though my tax situation is now easier, I will never go back to paying someone to do taxes for me or trying to do this on my own.
What's great about it: Walks you through every possible detail of your tax return, even things most people wouldn't think of.
What's not so great: Little help offered within the system for unique state forms/situations.

All in all, I like Turbo Tax. It is safe, accurate, fairly easy to use, and I can prepare my family's returns as well as my own with the one disc. I recommend Turbo Tax to everyone I know.
What's great about it: USER FRIENDLY FORMAT
What's not so great: DIFFICULT TO OPEN/BEGIN A NEW/DIFFERENT RETURN
