Excellent product. Have used it for years.
One con --
When a person uses the standard deduction on the Federal return but itemizes on the State return, a Federal Schedule A doesn't automatically print with the State Return which is required to be attached to the State return when itemizing on the State return. This necessitates having to print a Federal Schedule A manually to attach to the State return. This requires a person to file the State return by mail. If filing the State return electronically in this case, it would be missing the Federal Schedule A. It would be nice to be able to accurately file both returns -- however in this situation only the Federal return can be accurately electronically filed -- the State has to be filed by mail.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Great filing!

This is really self-explanatory unless you make a mistake. Those errors can confuse you. You have to read it carefully.
What's great about it: LOVE the cost of Free & filing myself!
What's not so great: Confusing at times when errors occurred.

I've been using turbotax for many years. Generally it's been a good product. This year however, there was a glitch. For some reason it would not let me file my New York State return electronically. There was a tax credit on a form that it did not support. So it told me I could not file electronically, even though New York State requires it. It then never led me down the correct path to filing the return by mail. Hmmm. Will I use turbotax again? Not sure. Definitely not if they do not fix that glitch.
What's not so great: couldn't file state return electronically because turbotax did not support one form

Needs Some Work, More Complicated Than Years Past

I've always liked the ease of use of TurboTax, but this year I ran into issues. Entering one of my forms, it somehow kept going back saying there was an error with it and had me verify the info, which I did, but then kept saying it wasn't correct. Eventually, I had to delete the form altogether and then re-enter the exact same data to get it to work. It would have been nice to have it tell me why it rejected my data (I still don't know, it just kept telling me that something was wrong and that I needed to verify it).
I still recommend TurboTax, but as tax rules/laws change, they need to continue to offer better explanations for the novice like me.
What's great about it: Easy to input most data
What's not so great: Can Get Stuck In A Loop

the Con would not let me delete lines on Worksheets to clear the apparent "hang up" that stopped my Review. It showed shaded lines on lines that I had not entered data.
What's great about it: Used for years and alway feel confident of Tirbo's result
What's not so great: This year (2013) I had difficulty getting through the Review because it kept showing incomplete elements on Worksheets.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Overall I think TurboTax is the way to go. I have been using it since the 1990's, even before it was called TurboTax. It gets easier every year and I don't have to worry about trying to determine what formulas to use in determining values. Also, I don't have to keep up with the different places to enter data on the worksheets and 1040. All I need to do is answer the questions. Lastly, I appreciate the final review. It has helped me catch those last minute details that I would have otherwise overlooked.
What's great about it: Easy import; Toggle between interview and forms; self-explanatory
What's not so great: Wordy questions; help topic list can be tedious to find specific need
