Easy to Use

For years, I thought my taxes were too complicated to prepare by myself. Two of my friends convinced me to try Turbo Tax because they said I had done all the work in putting the information together and that Turbo Tax would guide me step by step. They were right, and I am not going back to a tax preparer. I was paying 3 to 4 times more for my tax preparation, which lowered my refund!

rocked my refund and MORE!

Over all, having all the latest information in tax changes right at my finger tips in such an easy format, has saved me a lot on my taxes and gotten me a much bigger refund than I originally thought. That happened mainly because I did a double check of my taxes after they were done. I found a couple of places to revisit because of tax law changes. When I read the changes, I was able to get a bigger refund.
What's great about it: very easy to use and have been using it for years!
What's not so great: sometimes there's so much stuff that doesn't apply, it feels like forever getting through it.

Good software, but update feature needs work

This year, I used TurboTax on Windows 8. I wasn't logged in as the computer administrator. I prefer to be logged in as a regular user instead of an administrator because unwanted software is less likely to be installed without me knowing about it. There were no problems with installing TurboTax and using it while logged in as a regular user.
When it came to updating the software, TurboTax couldn't proceed because it needed the computer administrator to give permission for the update. Other software will allow a window to appear for the computer administrator to log in and provide permission to install the updates. TurboTax wouldn't do that. I couldn't proceed to filing my return without the updates. I had to close TurboTax and log back into my computer as the administrator to complete the update.
Intuit should fix the update feature to let the computer administrator log in to provide permission without having to close TurboTax and log in again as an administrator. Computer users like me prefer not running as administrator to reduce risk of unwanted software. Intuit should not force us to compromise our security practices to run their software.
What's great about it: I always use TurboTax to do my refunds, and I have had no complaints in the past.
What's not so great: This year, I used TurboTax on Windows 8. The update feature did not work if not logged into computer as administrator

Mac edition needs help!

Everything was going great until I got to the transmit portion. I could not transmit the returns after several tries. Looked up some help options and found some suggestions to check for updates. I checked for updates and there were none listed. Tried to transmit again and still had issues. Restarted, got to the transmit portion, and had a different issue of timing out. After 3 or 4 more tries it finally sent. It took as long to get it to transmit as it did to go through the whole process.
My suggestion is to fix whatever issue you have with Macs please. Otherwise very happy.
What's great about it: Everything went very smooth and was very user friendly
What's not so great: Did not transmit returns for quite a long time without some help
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

LOVE TURBO TAX

BEST WAY TO DO YOUR TAXES. BEEN USING TURBO TAX FOR SEVERAL YEARS. ONLY NEGATIVE THING I CAN SAY ABOUT TURBO TAX IS THATYOU CAN'T TALK TO A LIVE PERSON RIGHT AWAY IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION

Always have used TurboTax

Love using TurboTax. My former wife tried using a tax professional a couple years ago and I had to pay, plus my refund was less.
I was a little confused about child support, then I went to the help and support and it gave me the correct info. All in all a great experience.
