This was not too bad. It was faster than doing it by hand. I printed my W-2's but I would recommend that you save a PDF if you can so you can E-file. I did not do that so I am using snail mail to file. Still it was much easier than plowing thru the forms. Might be a 5-Star if I had all my paperwork ready to scan. Maybe next year.
What's great about it: Much easier to get thru paperwork
What's not so great: A little difficult figuring out data inputs on self-employment

Fairly easy taxes, but did I do as well as I could

Great for me as I am not a business owner and everything is fairly straight forward. I like the tool to figure your donations. Value of items is likely high though (most would consider this a plus). Education expenses and some other components could use better help menus though.

Very disappointed this year.

For the 2 year comparison and 2012 AGI needed to e-file, the 2012 income was incorrect. An entire 1099-R amount was dropped. Also the cost basis for our traditional IRA was not brought forward from 2012. We've never had these problems before and we've been using TurboTax for at least 10 years. We felt we had to double check every form and our level of trust in 2013 Turbo Tax was not very high.
What's great about it: Very efficient and usually accurate
What's not so great: Brought incorrect information forward

I have not complaints. I have been using Turbo Tax for a few years now and I like being about to see the past year figures as you are filling in the current years. Let you see and compare amounts and helps to make sure nothing if forgotten.

Problems Completing Return

Box 1c on my brokerage 1099-B was blank and TurboTax forced me to use S on the 1099-B Worksheet line 5c even though I had entered L on 1099-B Worksheet line 5d. There was no work around for this and I spent over two hours on chat with their technical support.
What's great about it: Familiarity, use every year
What's not so great: Problems with 1099-B Worksheet

I have used turbo tax software for several years and each year the experience has been better than the year before. I enjoy the ease, efficiency, and convenience in preparing my taxes at home.

Made Filing for an Elderly Parent Easy

My mom moved in with me last year after selling her house. She has a huge list of medical deductions and charitable contribtions. TurboTax made it easy for me to figure out her retirement income, medical deductions, and expenses related to her everyday life for me on my tax returns, and also for her.
What's great about it: Good deduction questions
What's not so great: What can I say, IRS rules.
