The Turbo Tax Return process is much cleaner than thumbing through document after document to get answers to the questions posed from the tax returns. Feel very confident that the numbers I input are accurate and appropriate for the form. Generally hate the process associated with submitting my tax return, but since converting to Turbo Tax in 2008 feel I am getting the best bang for the buck.
What's great about it: Comprehensive look at the tax return process
What's not so great: Updates should occur at the start vice midstream

A pleasant guide to a yearly chore

Intuit has developed a great product that guides users through the complexities of the US tax code in a straight forward and easy to understand fashion. Great job!!
What's great about it: I have developed user interface sofware in the past, I can not imagin how you do this for the tax code! Job well done!!

The startup splash screen is over the top of all subsequent dialogs. As a result you will not see:
1) Windows dialog requesting permission to install
2) Dialog asking to update the software now.
The splash screen should not obscure other dialogs that require input.

Added a form 8891 (Canadian retirement) because I did not check yes/no. It should have reminded me that I needed to pick one of those. The simplified interface has no way to delete this form, you have to go to forms to delete it.
I did not have to pay taxes or even file a return. TurboTax should have made that obvious instead of searching the IRS site to find the information.
What's great about it: worked as expected
What's not so great: It added a Canadian retirement account that I had to manually delete.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Turbo Tax. I have been using it since 2007 and the best part is how all the info is transferred from the previous year.
However, you should make sure that you review the forms before filing so you understand what you have submitted and check to make sure that everything is correct.
What's great about it: Easy to file using step by step method
What's not so great: Found a couple of inconsistencies

Great Help But Very Annoying Flaw

Everything went smoothly this year with Fed. With state (VA) all appeared smooth as well. Passed all reviews, paid extra money to submit state on line. When Fed and VA were actually submitted, was informed my submissions failed "validation". Could not discover why. Spoke with TurboTax rep who was most responsive. We were both buffaloed until rep wondered if VA forms weren't complete. Turned out to be the case. With his help electronically submitted Fed alone. Two days later, by magic?, VA form passed validation and was accepted. Irritating that software did not keep me informed!
What's great about it: Clear directions in plain language. Easy to review
What's not so great: VA form missing without clear notice. Unnecessary trouble validating.
