Thorough but save yourself time if you understand

Used TT for years but have had to learn where to avoid questions and where to dig for questions. Example 1: my son took standard deduction but got caught up in answering many deduction questions only to have info ignored because it was better for him to take standard deduction. Example 2: I don't have enough medical deductions to exceed minimum % of income so I don't bother entering them with the exception of my Long Term Care insurance premium. My state gives me deduction for LTC premium but it can ONLY be entered under federal questions for medical expenses. That is something I had to dig for to figure out. Example 3: Because I itemize deductions, the state tax refund from the prior year is added to this year's income. But TT also adds in any unreported sales tax from prior year. The latter should NOT be added in since I only claim state income taxes rather than sales taxes as a deduction. I had to override the state tax refund amount from last year. These are things that TT could provide better Q&A about.
Lastly, the Amazon gift card process made me uneasy. Looked like extra fees were going to get charged so I canceled the gift card. Specifically, my federal refund of 1200 minus the Amazon gift card of 500 should have given me 700 of remaining refund. But the estimated remaining refund was only 600.

What's great about it: Thorough set of questions. Decent set of answers when requesting more info. Great job of compiling information.
What's not so great: Some pitfalls can catch you.

Clear and easy to use!

Got me through my taxes quickly and maximized my refund. Advertisements try to scare you into using other products, but TurboTax was great!
What's great about it: Ask questions in plain language that was easy to understand.
What's not so great: Some times error check won't let you link out to explain problem.

Great federal product - state is a pain

The process is great. Filling out the forms is a piece of cake. Only issue - why give me a "free state" when I have to pay to file, especially when I can file for free in my state? Two years in a row that I fill out the state, then don't bother to use it because I can fill it out online with my state and get my refund for free. Disappointing!
What's great about it: Federal is easy
What's not so great: Why pay to file state if it's free from my state?

At nearly fifty years of age this was the first time I ever had to do my own taxes. I'd like to thank you Turbo Tax for removing all anxiety over filing.
What's great about it: simple step by step
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I heard there was an issue with the state of Maine and returns. when I tried to find an update I wasn't able easily figure out how to ask. Now I see that there is a customer service option. That wasn't clear when I first made the inquiry.
What's great about it: used for years - very very easy
What's not so great: I don't feel like I can reach out to anyone to ensure updates have been made

Easy to use & review

It takes me less time to fill in & file than it would if I had to manually do it myself. Except for having to pay to e-file state tax forms, it is much cheaper than any tax preparer.
What's great about it: It is easy to follow the steps that you need for filling in categories & e-filing
What's not so great: There are a very few areas it doesn't explain or let you know how to access.
