Unless you want to plow through the 80,000 pages of gov't gobbledegook, I highly recommend Turbo Tax, as it makes the very distasteful exercise of doing taxes easy!
What's great about it: The best Tax software for Tax Dummies!

Relating to my con above, when the user walks through the income and deductions it would be nice if the software would return us to the next line in the sequence instead of at the top of the page requiring the user to scroll down.
What's great about it: Easy to use and navigate through the entire refund process. This year the State refund process seemed much easier.
What's not so great: Income and deductions walk through could be a little more user friendly

Easy, Fast, Maximum Refund

We've been using Turbotax for the last 4 years (hubby is a hands-on guy and did all the math himself before that). I love that W-2s and tax information from previous year's returns are quickly imported into this year's. Charitable deductions are recalled from previous years as well. It's important to walk through every step and read the pop-out information bubbles every year. DH assumed that we were not eligible for certain deductions because we were not eligible in the past. Eligibility changes, and we got $3600 more back this year!

Turbo tax is great and easy to use. I've been using it since 2000 and no problems at all.
What's great about it: Super easy
What's not so great: none
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy as it gets

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. Even on the "difficult" years (divorce, home purchase, sale of stocks) the data required was spelled out so that my return was accurate. I recommend Turbo Tax as I enter my retirement year.
What's great about it: Walks me right through the process with the help I need when required.
What's not so great: Can't think of any.
