This was a very good experience.

This was easy and fairly fast couvered the topics well and expedited the process nicely
What's great about it: Easy, walked through and has helps for everything
What's not so great: little of a learning curve but incredibly easier than doing all alone

Education credit for dependent

I have used Turbo Tax for about 10 years. This year, I completed the taxes and was ready to file them.
I heard people talking about education credit for dependents.
I then went back and manually entered form 8863 and got the 1,000 credit.
Went back and amended 2012 and got the same credit.
For some reason the program doesn't guide you to that form on the walk through. It just guides you to education credit for the primary filer and not dependent.
What's great about it: Once located, easy to fill out
What's not so great: Does not automatically give you form.

Easy Peasy

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. I am comfortable with the process and it really makes it the least painful filing your taxes can be!
What's great about it: it walks you through each step
What's not so great: must pay for state e-file
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used turbo-tax for 20 years and iv always had good results.... all you have to do is follow the instructions where to put the numbers....... how great is that....
