This cooktop is completely unreliable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cooktop is great... WHEN IT WORKS! Unfortunately, it already broke down on me two times in 8 months. Each time, I was left without a cooktop for weeks. Now I am stuck with this thing in which I have zero confidence, and just wait for it to break down a third time.
Do yourself a favor: don't buy this unit. Don't get me wrong: I love it when it works. It does everything an induction cooktop is supposed to do, and very well. Let me add that all my appliances are Kitchenaid, so I have nothing against this brand. But this particular unit was clearly not ready for primetime. Maybe in a few years, after the engineers have come up with a new version of the same unit, it will be ready. But right now, it is unreliable.
Pros: Performance, Convenient Features, easy to use
Cons: Unreliable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been using this for two weeks and had to buy all new cookware. First, one of the elements wouldn't stay on and when we had a technician come to fix it we discovered that each element requires a pan with a bottom surface the size of the element for it to work. A wok doesn't keep on the element as the bottom surface area is too small. Plus in the first week, while moving a pan off it's element, the surface scratched. That seems ridiculous since we are using approved cookware. You need to know what you are getting into.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would NOT recommend buying this stove at all. We had this stove delivered and installed by Jenaire. At first we thought what a great stove. However the stove broke down within a week to month of use and was replaced not one, not two but four times. After the 4th time that the unit was replaced we gave up and decided to buy a completely different brand.
We went with a Bosch. To this day we love the Bosch and have had no difficulties with it.
Cons: Unreliable, Poor Performance, poor, break down

Simply Amazing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure I was going to like induction cooking ( I gave an expensive set of cookware away when I got this cooktop) but I can tell you it's BETTER than cooking on any other cooktop INCLUDING GAS. Induction cooking heats ONLY the cookware so things heat instantly and evenly and when you shut it off, it's OFF with no remaining radiant heat like all other stoves. And since the surface doesn't get hot, spilled foods simply wipe off. This is the only way to cook...

For a top of the line cook top at this price, it should work longer than 2 1/2 years. Made a loud noise, tripped breaker and will not power up again. Kicu500xss model

Nice cooktop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A little noisy. Cooks similar to gas. Poor installation instructions regarding the brackets. Make you purchase glue that is over $100 for the tube if your cooktop is going into a granite or quartz top....that's silly!

No complaints about cooking on the cooktop

I have gone through 2 of these cooktops within a 5 year span. Will not buy another as they are not reliable. Both times the motherboard and control panel have blow. The cause was not due to faulty electrical system as we have new home with a surge protecter installed on our electric panel.

BROKE AFTER 2 DAYS
on March 3, 2020

We had this model for about 7 years with no problems (I guess it's the predecessor to the model on the website; it looks exactly the same, but has a different model number). Two weeks ago, 2 burners stopped working, error F47 started flashing and it tripped the braker. We continued using the other two burners, but the same thing happened. Knowing that it would take a while to get it repaired and we had to pay for it anyway, we decided to buy a new one - same exact model. IT BROKE DOWN 2 DAYS AFTER USE! Same exact problem! We couldn't believe it! We called Kitchenaid to have it repaired and to our great surprise, they will not fix it because they claim that the problem was caused by our installation - not enough ventilation. WHAT?? How did the previous cooktop, same model, same installation/configuration, work for 7+ years with no problems? I've read plenty of reviews from other customers complaining of this error F47 and the multiple break-downs they have endured. Did Kitchen-aid blame them for the break-down? I am so disappointed in both Kitchenaid and the technician who came to our house. He did not mention that we would have to pay for it. It almost seems they have conspired to make us pay for the repair which won't be cheap since the whole electrical bottom part has to be replaced - everything but the glass top. We were so stupid to buy the same model again: the money we spent on it, the take-out meals as a result and a portable induction cooktop we ended up buying to get by since they're is only so much you can cook in an oven; not to mention the frustration and the hassle. I was on the verge of tears during my call with Kitchenaid. So disappointing!
