Fantastic Camera

Have used this camera for 2-1/2 months. Great design, very light weight for size (fits smaller pockets). The auto focus, stability feature in incredible. Very high resolution results. Just got back from Alaska cruise ... was able to easily stop motion photos of whales, and 2-1/2 yr old granddaughter. Battery life is surprisingly long; I took many photos and never ran out of charge (compared to our old Canon SD630. The only feature change would be the battery/sd card door ... a little hard to open, and when doing so I have to be careful to not touch the power button on the other side, opening the lens.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

Really Great Purchase

My dad bought me this camera for my birthday in September 2011, and I absolutely LOVE it. I am an amateur photographer, and this camera is perfect for someone who is looking to dip their feet into the world of photography. The macro on this camera is great, although it is a bit hard to focus on really small objects up close, which is kind of expected. The picture quality is amazing, and looks great even on large computer screens. The camera makes portraits look really great, even in auto mode. It's like it's got a little photoshop; Skin looks smooth, and eyes look bright. The menu is very easy to navigate, and has all sorts of nifty little effects that you can use, like vivid, B&W, and Sepia. Also, there are different modes that you can use in the custom mode, like Fish-eye, Foliage, and beach. Low light pictures come out well.
My only complaint is that my pictures, when printed in 8 x 10's, came out a bit pixelated. I'm not sure if it's the MP on the camera, I should have sharpened it, or the setting on the camera. It's probably me since no one else has complained about it.
Overall, this camera is great for beginners, or even experienced photographers who would like a compact camera for quick, on-the-go shots.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, good macro, great portraits
Cons: 8 x 10's a bit pixelated

Great 2nd Camera

I bought this camera as a sidekick to my Canon dSLR T1i and it has done great. I wanted a camera that I could slip in my pocket while studying abroad. I wanted a camera with optimum low light preformace beacuse in my previous cameras the most common source of a bad shot was a blurry picture. I also would be using this camera a lot inside, outside at night, at sporting events, where it is often hard to get a sharp image. This camera has tones of shooting modes, it's crazy. There is one I wish it had but i can't remember what it was. I just returned from using it underwater at the great barrier reef with the 10ft rated underwater case and it did great, especially w/o using the flash. there was a underwater setting and it was easy to switch macro and the flash on and off while under water. The camera doesn't lock you into using flash or lock you out of using macro in different modes as well which is nice. Battery life was a bit short, but that is compared to my SLR, so i don't know how good that is compared to other compact cameras. and all this for a great price!
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life

Very Good Point and Shoot

This my first digital camera although I have taken photographs for years using analog SLRs (Single Lens Reflex cameras).
I found this camera easy to use; on the whole, the controls are straight-forward. For example, I picked the camera up from the store, read the little info. booklet that came with it, charged the battery and took a number of shots all in one afternoon.
To make my life easy I set the camera to Auto and Auto flash. The pictures came out crisp and well lit. They had accurate color which is wonderful for shots taken inside a house.
These were not meant to be artsy photographs, they simply served as documentation of my kitchen and did a good job of that. Since then I have taken pix of my family, and I feel confident that it will take good photos indoors and outdoors.
The camera is small and light and very comfortable to carry with me. If you are interested in buying it just keep in mind that it is so small for a camera that it is almost too small for my hands which are adult medium-sized. Now that I am accustomed to the size, though, it is not a problem.
One more thing: I knew enough to buy an extra memory card but didn't get an extra battery. I should have so that I would have a back-up.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Excellent Little Camera

I have always loved Canon printers, so I thought I would give their cameras a try as well. I am glad I did! The quality of the photos is great as well as all of the different settings for each unique environment. I use the custom setting because I take alot of pictures of different types of subjects, but the auto feature also works very well. The video quality is what really surprised me! It captures the action, color and sound quite well. I am very pleased with my Canon ELPH 100 HS!!!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: overwhelming instruction manual, manual is software only/no booklet

9 months in Europe and still truckin' on

This is a great camera. I busted my previous point-and-shoot (which cost a sight more than this one) and figured I'd just replace it with an entry-level point-and-shoot in case history repeated itself.
I'm never going to spend a penny more - cause this thing is awesome! It's durable (9 months of travel, works like new), takes treat pictures, stellar in low-light, takes a decent video and that screen?...it's huge! Don't look further, just buy one.

Im very happy with this

you can zoom when taking videos. i am actually happy with it because of the low light technology, the feel of it is nice, buttons are too small, but what i feel as it will break easily when dropped to the floor, so be careful. the battery door is plastic.... which can break very easily. but i would still recomend this camera for those who like to take pictures out at night, or those who like to take pictures in the dark. it helps alot.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Flimsy Construction
