Don't bother to buy any Samsung TV. The TV broke after one year. It flickers. The problem is prevalent. Just look at CNET forum and search for Samsung Flickering.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had a Samsung HDLP for 3-1-2 years and after the second projection light went out, I decided to buy a new TV. This Samsung provides a picture that is so clear and sharp that you think you are actually "on the set". I did alot of research prior to purchase and found that Sony actually buys most of its parts from Samsung. Sony is now going to LG for parts, so buyer beware. My only complaint is the longevity of the Samsung products. Caveat: I do keep my TV on most all the time for the ambient noise. I am old, so I remember the days when a TV, refridgerator, and washer and dryer lasted 20 years. Alas the new digital products do not. However, I do think a 5-7 year lifespan should be attainable as well as a reasonable expectation for a consumer.

When I decided to purchase an HDTV, I did a lot of research on the web, read numerous reviews, and went to multiple stores to view different brands. I am extremely glad that I chose Samsung!! Had it on 10 minutes out of the box. I actually had the set in my home for 3 days before the cable company was able to come to my home and install the card for my tivo box and I was really impressed with the picture, but when they placed the card in my box and I finally had HD service, WOW, it blew me away..Great color, great picture. Would recommend Samsung to anyone.

In general I like the set. Good detail, simple calibration, easy wireless setup. I don't use the included apps but I'm sure they work well.
A blank screen shows uneven lighting with a fairly heavy lighting to the right third that is not improved by adjustments or by the latest firmware update. It is not related to viewing position either as it is visible from any angle.
However this brightness on the one side does not seem to affect image quality when there is any programming onscreen. So while I would rather the screen lit evenly in any circumstance because it doesn't effect the viewing of content I live with it.
Less than perfect but not bad.
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, excellent comparative reliability, excellent customer service, fast warranty response, in home service excellent
Cons: uneven screen brightness

The picture start to look bad with flashing/flustering pictures. The warrenty is only 1 year. and it starts to perform bad after 1 year and 3 months.
It is more expensive to repair than buy a new one.
Cons: Poor quality

I've had this tv for two weeks now and I'm very happy with it. The only problem I've had is with the picture not being very sharp on channels that broadcast in 480i. Channels that broadcast in 1080i or 720p have an excellent picture. The sound is very good, and the night mode is a very good feature to have when watching tv late at night. The remote control has too many "sub menus" and was very hard for me to learn. Despite the drawbacks mentioned, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
