Best MP3 player I have used yet!

I received the GoGear Vibe 8gb back in 2009 or 2010 AND IT'S STILL RUNNING GREAT! I listen to a lot of audio books and the battery life is STILL about as good as it was new. It has also been used substantially while I was at work in the shipyard - very hot, dirty, and in the summer, extremely humid environment almost everyday for 4 years. I have spilled a few drinks that have seeped inside via the USB and headphone jacks but with quick triage (blowing into the jacks to remove as much liquid as possible and help via centrifugal force) I am *very* pleased at the abuse this little machine has tolerated!
Please keep in mind I am reviewing the device itself and not so much the Phillips Songbird software which was very confusing to me as I don't care to create playlists and the like. It could also be clearer as to converting different video formats BUT once figured out, becomes easy enough.
The menu-driven interface on the device is intuitive and easy to navigate. The lock toggle switch on the bottom, when activated, is confirmed via the screen which is satisfying and works well. Especially if you put the device in your pocket when playing MP3s or audio books. I love the fact that there is no fluff and just enough menu items to get the job done. Everything from slideshows, playing videos, and playing audio is easy and extremely reliable.
In conclusion I am very satisfied with this gift and would recommend it to anyone that wants a compact, *rugged*, great sounding MP3 player with a battery life that has been first class. The screen is tiny for videos but as I said earlier because I use it primarily for audio books, video is just icing on the cake for me and is sufficient to entertain me when I have chosen to use it.
I hope this review has helped!
Pros: long battery life, rugged design, foolproof interface, great equalizer options, compact, 8gb has been perfect for audiobooks
Cons: phillips sonbird is somewhat bloated, video is tiny but expected on such a small screen

I work in construction and I have my song bird in a case clipped onto my hard hat and its great ....but I have some Ideas of new app Ideas for this system......could a 2 way be added so construction workers could talk to each other and the system would go back to music when 2 way is not in use but when some one kees thier mike the 2 way takes over....Idea 2....the ear pieces would have to be swet proof and cover the ear to protect from excessive noise but with the 2 way other workers could can still talk while working....and as I do already learning cd's can already be downloaded on to the songbird and learned while working thereby multy tasking and I am learning spanish while I am working.could a interactive educational software be developed with a combination of roseta stone and voice recognition software so english speaking supervisors could be learning spanish and our spanish speaking co workers could be learning english think of all the posibilities for this

My go to for recording voices and listening to music! I have had it for about 4 years now. It does last! I have the 8gb model. I am not sure how to get videos on it. The display is smaller than most but it is a lot faster to use than most I have seen 4 years ago and even some now. Probably one of the best ones I've used.
Pros: long battery life, easy button placement, has themes for customization, has a radio
Cons: smaller screen than most, no bluetooth

Sound is excellent especially when you use any Philips headphones. small, light weight, and you can delete songs while they are playing. Perfect device. No issues!
Pros: price, sound, size

The one thing that really stands out is that once an update is installed, some optons no longer work until future updates come out.

I was SOOO in love with my sandisk until I stepped on it HAHA. Im still kinda attatched to the sandisk. After I crushed my sandisk, I went to go buy another one, but the store I went to was out of them. So reluctantly I bought the GoVibe. Took me awhile to appreciate it, but having dropped it, stepped on it, slept on it and basically abused the heck out of it. I came to appreciate it more and more. Im ROUGH on my electronics, as if you couldnt tell LOL! The sound is impeccable! Its so nice and small, I can put it my pocket when I ride my scooter out on long open roads, it keeps me company. I just LOVE this player!! I'd recommend it to anyone who's as rough as I am on mp3 players. The only thing I dont like it the forced program of Rhapsody. I already had an account, but really wanted to drop it and the player forced it back onto my player! No good!! I was able to get into it and take it off so I dont get pestered about how long I have to renew my account with Rhapsody. But that's the only thing bad I find about this player it's just awesome!!!
Cons: rhapsody bloatware
