Great step-up

I had an earlier Brother B&W MFC, then a color laser, and they all served me (us) well, in a home office environment.
But the 9970CDW is truly the greatest ever. I was leery of giving up the USB connection to go wireless, but the Brother tech walked me through it and it's been faultless.
The scanning capability has turned into a boon as a business application, getting hard copy documents into clients hands almost instantly.

After going through many multifuntion printers, it is a relief to finally find one that is very reasonably priced, yet is one of the best mulit-function printers I have ever used. This is used in my business for basic copying, but is pushed to the limits for brochure printing and duplex printing/copying. All is done flawlessly. I highly recommend this printer for someone in need of this type of printer. If I could name anything that needs improvement, I would have to say that it could use a better way to monitor toner usage in real time. The only way you know that toner is going low, is when you get an notice sayng its running out, and time to change. I would like to see something better in this regard, although this is very minor to me. Enjoy

Simply awesome

I use this printer in my small business and print about 200 to 500 pages a week. This is a very fast, reliable printer. Colors are excellent when printing personal photos. Start-up speed is really great. Cartridges last a long time and are very easy to replace. It was easy to set up to print for all my computers in the house on my LAN. Sometimes I wish the paper tray had a little more capacity. At some moments during print start it can draw 12 amps so it tripped my UPS and upset my desktop computer until I put it on a separate circuit. Overall this is an outstanding printer.

MFC-9970CDW

I did a lot of research on what I wanted before purchasing the MFC-9970CDW. I have a mixed wireless network of apple MacPros, iPad's and windows based computers. Other than a couple of minor set up issues, I love this printer/scanner for my small consulting business. I needed something with speed, relatively low cost and reliability. The printer scores on all these features. The scanner works well in all modes, which was one of my biggest needs. I dumped my other other brand when they quit upgrading the software, forcing me to purchase a new piece of equipment. I won't go back.

Pretty good overall machine for color and networking. Only thing is that the color duplication is a little light. Otherwise, it really produces a lot of good printing and warms up well. I would recommend it for small office and home office use. Good sheet feeder.

I like the MFC-9970CDW. It is my third brother printer. It delivers good quality documents, copies and scans. It is the best scanner I have tried when used in tandem with third party scanner programs. It is a little noisy when in operation.

I found this printer to do everything I needed. It is far improved over the MFC-8870DW which I consider to be junk. The wireless connection was flawless and easy to set up. The only negatives I see is poor envelope printing design and the cost of the consumables. How can the cost of consumables be almost the cost of a new printer?

I have been very pleased with this printer. The printing is clear, the colors are sharp, and it is first-rate as a scanner -- I have scanned dozens of photographs and found it to provide sharp, well-defined images that can be used with good clarity in Powerpoint presentations.
