I found the real Stainless Steel Version
on October 31, 2018
Posted by: DT82
from AZ
Took me a while to find, but this is the part number you want - KSM5THWWSS
Stainless steel wires AND HUB - dishwasher safe. Heavy SS Hub.
Not sure why Kitchen Aid would make and would sell this K45WW with Aluminum hub part that is inferior. Also not sure why it was so difficult to find this part number.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dear DT82,

Thank you for your review.
KitchenAid recently launched a stainless steel flat beater, dough hook and wire whip for the tilt head model stand mixers.

Dont buy this - Aluminum hub is a non-starter

Put this in the dishwasher by mistake, it came out oxidized. Not sure why Kitchen aid who "owns" the stand mixer market place would use aluminum in the attachments. The incremental cost of just supplying stainless steel is so insignificant to the purchasers of these products it just doesn't make any sense. I will toss the beater into the trash and have to buy the stainless one. The stainless steel hub version of this beater is what you should be getting instead. DONT BUY THIS ONE

I will never use this attachment

I just bought the "Passion Red 100 Year Limited Edition Queen of Hearts 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer." Unfortunately, the mixer came with what I believe is this exact attachment. I have never used the attachment, but when I rub my fingers on the wire portion of the whip/whisk they turn black/grey. I am led to believe that no portion of this is stainless steel. If it turns my fingers black/grey, what will it do when it comes into contact with food? I will never use the wire whip/whisk that came with my machine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

They should not make aluminum whisks
on April 22, 2022

from Scottsdale, AZ
I spent a lot of money buying my KitchenAid mixmaster and various sized bowls and attachments. I purchased the whisk. I had no idea the problem with the aluminum whisk. I never put it in a dishwasher. I had it stored in my cabinet with all my various bowls and attachments. I went to take it out and it was black (and so were my fingers for touching it.) I tried cleaning it, but it still looks disgusting. When I saw they have a stainless steel one, I wondered why I was sent the aluminum one...And, of course, they are out of stock, so I can't even buy a replacement. Very disappointing considering how much I spent on all this...

I have the K45 series mixer, which I love. I have used it a handful of times, but I’ve noticed the whisk now turns anything the metal touches BLACK. Super disappointed!

Wire broke off- sent food everywhere
on December 1, 2019
Posted by: bestbaker
love my mixer until now- one wire snapped at the base like some cheap Chinese knock off. Now 1/2 the reviews for these replacement mention oxidation or black residue which is impossible if it is really stainless steel. What is going on with KitchenAid quality?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
