This attachment pac is expensive compared to how long the components last. I used the shredder once and it developed 2 cracks in the housing. The grinder housing also developed a major crack and I'm not sure if it is safe to use. I contacted Kitchenaid and they told me the parts are only warrantied for a year. Replacement parts will be $50. No part like that should fail with minimal use. Disappointed in Kitchenaid's lack of responsibility for these defective products.

Broke with minimal use

I see through other reviews that I have the same problem. I brought mine out for Thanksgiving and it broke while in use. After examining the attachment I found several more cracks.

wish attachments were half as good as the mixer

Love my lift mixer which I have regularly used throughout the last ten plus years but went to use my slicer attachment yesterday and saw plastic housing was cracked in several locations where the shaft goes into the housing . Then looked at the grinder and was also cracked in similar location. Only had used a few times each and was looking forward to using more now that I have more time. Stored properly and in closed kitchen cabinet in a controlled environment ( ie heated and AC) so never should have cracked. So of course all my other attachments are now useless too. See photos.

Cracked Cases

I have had my mixer of over 20 years and other than the bowl being too small for some recipes (bread) I am thrilled. I cannot say the same for the grinder or slicer. The mixer was a gift and I also received the attachments, but never used them. One of my family members has developed health problems and is now on a low calorie, low sugar and low sodium diet. As a result I have to make everything. Last night I got the grinder out of the box to make sausage and was very disappointed to see that the case was cracked, I checked the slicer and it is cracked too. Cannot afford to replace them, so I am stuck with them until they break.

Sadly disappointed

I bought the meat grinder attachment recently as a replacement for my old one from 20+ years ago that had finally cracked. I have to say the new one is a great disappointment. It doesn't cut the meat but mushed the meat. I constantly had to stop the grinding, disassemble the grinding attachment and remove meat that could not be forced through the grinding plate. The knife just doesn't do the job. It appears the new model has a knife that is made from stamped metal (which isn't sharp) where the older model was machined and the edges were very sharp. This was a big waste of money!!

Great mixer, bad accessories

I have had my Kitchenaid mixer for almost 40 years. It has never failed to work brilliantly. Love it! It's as if the accessories, that I purchased some years later, came from a completely different company. I have used them very infrequently. I got them out to use over the holidays and found cracks in the plastic housing of the grinder and power strainer. For the price, you would think they would stand the test of time, particularly just sitting in a drawer. They do not. It seems to be a common problem reading the other reviews. This review is specifically for accessories. They have no longevity.

I purchased this for canning and making large amounts of salsa, hot pepper relish etc. The roto blades are not sharp and it makes mush / juice out of everything instead of slicing or grating. I am beyond disappointed in the attachments for the kitchenaid. If you do something extremely hard it works but not very well. I love my mixer but absolutely hate the attachments I purchased the large package with all of the attachments and the vegetable strainer is a waste as well. The screen is so small that if you do tomatoes you end up with nothing but water and waste all of your tomatoes, Same for apples. Oh, and if you want to do blackberries.. you can't because it clogs up the screen! Also, some grapes you cannot do as well. I really wish this worked or I knew it did not work correctly so I could have purchased something that did work. Save your money!
