Works well - when it works

Have been a big fan of commercial grade products for a retail market, hence why I always weigh up KithenAid. HOWEVER, apart form their stand mixers and hand blenders & mixers, it seems they are dabbing into other appliances and unfortunately is going to tarnish reputation. Have had this toaster for about 2.5 years and have to admit I only used it rarely. Now, the left hand side failed to work. Lowers bread and raises straight back up. Repeats this about three time then holds the bread down. Have to turn off the unit and back on to release the bread. Very inconvenient if you already have the other side going. Now, it just trips the circuit. Seems to be many others with same issue. Always these issues appear just out of warranty. Premium price for something I would expect for an average price quality. Same goes with their Artisan 1.7L Kettle but that is a whole other story Have invested a lot of money in KitchenAid and starting to realize it is starting to become a gamble...

The toaster works largely as you'd expect. Takes a long time to get a decent brown on heavy sourdough or gluten-free bread, but I guess that's par for the course.
The big downside (and this is despite previous purchasers) flagging this with the manufacturer since at least 2016 is the very loud, piercing beep noise that it makes at the start and end of the toast cycle.
I'm guessing the alert is needed because the toast doesn't spring up (so no "sproing" sound at the end), but it's unexpectedly loud. It is in desperate need of a volume control.
Also needs a lift function to make it easier to get smaller pieces of bread out when the cycle is complete.

Perfect for crumpets, bagels, and sourdough

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have many fond memories of my Grandmother, including learning how to use her already vintage sliding bar kitchen scales to measure ingredients for Schwarzwälder kirschtorte (Black Forest cake), marmorkuchen (marble cake), and obsttorte (fruit flan), all made with love using her KitchenAid stand mixer, but I had never owned a KitchenAid product until now; from first use in mid-January 2024, I got it. I understood with utmost clarity why people love KitchenAid.
In 2023, my "bachelor" toaster (a present to myself - for the thinking man who enjoys crumpets and good design) stopped working after 13 years of service, an outstanding inning; however, a history of reviews revealed a steady decline in the brand's quality. I researched, hemmed and hawed over price vs quality, purchased and returned a "trusted" brand of toaster after a "thermal event", and then finally, decisively concluded, to my wife's great relief, that the KitchenAid 4 Slice Artisan Automatic Toaster (in Pistachio, in memory of my Grandmother) is the one for me.
With the KitchenAid Artisan Automatic Toaster, my deli-made bagels are now toasted to perfection; their height and texture are preserved, they're a little crunchy on the filling side, giving way to a soft, chewy interior, much the same for the locally made handmade crumpets that are my weekend treat, a little crunchy on the outside with a delightfully spongy interior ready to mop up any honey that dripped onto the plate. Miche sourdough, tricky to toast to a golden brown, is also now perfect.
Man cannot live on bread alone, but perfectly toasted crumpets, bagels, and sourdough are more than mere sustenance; they are a source of comfort that can transport you back decades or thousands of miles. If you love toast, the KitchenAid Artisan Toaster is for you.

I bought this toaster a month ago after a lot of research. Initially it was fabulous but within 10 days it started playing up. One side of the pair would not release the toast and raise it after the cooking cycle had completed. We managed by turning it off and then on again at the power point but then this process no longer solved the problem. Now both sides of the toasting pair are playing up. Thank you Kitchen Aid for offering to replace it. I am waiting for a replacement to arrive at the retail store. I hope that this was an unusual problem and we have better luck with the next toaster.

The elements on one side stopped working. I was told when this happens, they don’t fix the toaster, they replace them. Due to being out of warranty, I was denied a replacement. Yes, my toaster was 3 years old (used once or twice a week by one person), but I expect a toaster of that price to last at least 3 years! I understand warranty, but again, given the price we pay for kitchen aid products, I expected a little more. I was planning to buy a mixer, but I’m not sure I want to spend that kind of money now.

Very futuristic, love the lit up buttons and sound it makes as the toast lightly rises. However, only one side works now :-( need to look into fixing it or getting a replacement.

We have had the toaster for a couple of days now. We have normal and crumpets with terrific results. All cooked perfectly. Best toaster we have owned and we have owned a few. Best looking toaster on the market. Thank you and well done
