Just got it and love the way it picked up the litter in the bathroom next to the box. This is why I bought it. I got tired of sweeping it up constantly with a brush and dustpan. This was way better. Cant wait to use it to vacuum the couch instead of picking up the heavy one and doing it. I hate having to attach and unattach pieces..

Hi AndreaB, It sounds like the unit's thermal protector may have been activated. Each unit is equipped with a thermal protector that will turn the unit off when it overheats and is usually caused from a blockage of airflow to the motor. Rinse the filter found under the dirt cup lid and allow it to air dry for 24 hours.

I bought this recently for my dorm room and it's working great so far! It's perfect for my small rug. The suction power is probably not strong enough for a thick rug or large area and I would definitely not buy this to clean a house. However, it's very light, small, and versatile so it's perfect for college!
