Detergent dispenser works intermittently.

Occasionally the detergent dispenser doesn't open. The entire cycle runs including heated dry which bakes on the dirt the soap would have washed. Luckily i wash the dishes 90% before i put them in the washer. The machine is less than 6 months old.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

couple of defects - poor use and care manual

Bought this because of past loyalty to GE appliances. However, on this dishwasher, the steam vent condenses and drips water onto the kitchen floor. The upper rack does not fully extend - making it hard to load the back of it , and the use and care manual is too generic - covers many different models with different designs and features
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Doesn't always clean heavily soiled dishes. Leaves detergent on door after cleaning.

Good quiet dishwasher but could be better

I like the new dishwasher but found the mounting of it less than easy. The dishwasher I replaced had very easy to use plastic mounting strips which ran the full length of each side that not only acted as a sound barrier but with three screws securely mounted it to the cabinet frame. I found the single GE metal tabs a real pain to install in the space I had. On the good side the machine is lovely to look at, high quality construction, very quiet in operation, easy to use, the controls are intuitiveand does a good job washing the dishes if you rinse them ahead of time. I have never not rinsed them so not sure how well it works with dried on food. On the not so positive side the soap dish does not open if you have larger utensils in front of it which is a major inconvenience as you have to re-run the cycle. I think this is a large design flaw and the only soap dish like this I have seen in the many dishwashers I own. I also find the racks OK but not great for the size of dinner plates we have. So, there are some things I really like and some that could easily be improved if GE took the time to do heuristic studies with customers. I would have picked the profile model but the handle would not clear a drawer that slid out near the dishwasher
