Don't buy this dishwasher

Moved in to our brand new home with new GE appliances on October 15, 2015. Since that day we have had 3 services calls on this dishwasher. The very helpful service techs told us we can only use 1/2 of the lower silverware tray otherwise the soap dispenser won't operate correctly and that we can't put butter knives in the upper silverware tray or the door won't close! The lower rack has the most awkward layout I have ever seen in a dishwasher. Because of the energy efficiency laws this thing takes 2-3 hours to get through the shortest cycle. It may be saving water, but the amount of electricity used is ridiculous. GE needs to go back to the drawing board, literally, and fix all the problems with this dishwasher.
I wish I had been able to move my 15 year old Maytag into our new home. It is working better after all these years than this GE ever will.
I will replace it as soon as I can.

Terrible dishwasher

We purchased this dishwasher for our new home. It has been a total disappointment. The top rack doesn't pull out all the way, so it is difficult to load and unload dishes. The dispenser did not properly dispense the detergent. We had a serviceman come out and he installed a device in the dispenser that makes it work better. Not sure why this wasn't installed at the factory before the dishwasher was installed in our home. There is a vent in the door that allows steam to escape from the inside compartment. This vent is positioned so that the steam is vented to the underside of the kitchen counter top, causing the particle board to swell from the moisture buildup. Also, the interior compartment would benefit from a light, since it is dark inside. A poorly designed appliance!

The dishwasher just does not clean that well. I have to rinse everything practically clean before loading.
I don't like the location of the flatware holder, and again forks, knives, spoons just don't come clean.

Cracked after only 2 months or came that way

We have to have our new dishwasher serviced after only 2 months because the door and inside pan are cracked. Had a Bosch for years-great dishwasher. We had our house built and this is this was the package offered by the builder. They are junk.
