Dishwasher died after a mere 5 years. You would thing they would last longer, it started beeping and making a singing noise at all hours. My husband tried resetting the breaker. Then all of a sudden the dishwasher wouldn't start. We don't run it that often, it is just 2 of us. The filter isn't dirty, I clean it often.

Stopped working after only 4 years. Had a technician replace the motherboard and it worked for about 3 weeks before it died again. Wasted my money trying to fix it, now I am going to have to replace it and it won’t be GE washer

Best dishwasher I've had over 40 years.
on October 7, 2023

I'm not entirely sure how old this dishwasher is but it was in a house that I recently bought. I think the house was built in 2007 and I don't know if the dishwasher is original but since it is in Bisque, my best guess is yes. I have had 3 brand new dishwashers through the years of various brands. I have to say this is the best dishwasher I have ever had. I wanted to get a SS door so it could match the rest of my suite but it has been discontinue in the part is no longer manufactured. I am pretty sure I will keep it in spite of the color...because I LOVE IT!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Dishwasher, EXCEPT....
on March 31, 2024

I purchased two of these dishwashers, one for home and another for a rental property. They do an excellent cleaning job when they work but both of them became undependable within two years due an identical issue... the user interface board in the door stopped working. I could get them to run by turning the circuit breaker off and on until finally that no longer worked either. I purchased a new interface board for one of them. The door must be removed and dismantled to remove and replace this board.
I found two things that I believe contributed to the boards demise. The first was the screw-on vent on the door interior was not as tight as it could have been which may have allowed steam to affect the boards integrity. The board appears to have a protective coating but who knows? The second was the plastic support pins to which the board is fastened with screws. Two of these pins were broken, possibly from being overtightened at the factory. The broken supports allowed the board to flex anytime a button was pushed, possibly causing a break in connections.
I removed the broken supports that came out with the old board and super-glued them where they had broken off. This took more time than swapping the board! With the board replaced, the dishwasher works like new but replacement was tedious and unnecessary, in my opinion, if more care had been taken during factory assembly. Now I need to repair the other dishwasher.
On another subject, I do not like the black trays and find them hard to see when loading unless I turn on some very bright lighting.
I will probably not purchase another GE dishwasher.

We are so sorry to hear of your experience with the control boards in your dishwashers. We understand the importance of appliances operating for a while, and we are confident that the replacement of these boards will provide a longer life span for this product. As we continue to make improvements to our appliances, your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments along to our product team to review.

Stopped working after 5 years.

Completely stopped powering on after 5 years. Around the 4th year I had to turn the breaker off and on to get it working. Around the 5th year the control panel just stopped lighting up even if I turned the breaker off and on.

Does not last long.

This dishwasher came with the house made in 2017. It used to constantly turn on by itself so for a while we would turn off the circuit breaker and turn it on when needed. After a while it just completely stopped working. I don’t think the price is worth the product longevity.

Worst dish washer ever owned due to quality
on December 6, 2024

Worst dish washer ever owned. We rarely would use it. It cleaned ok, but did not last. Constant power issues. We checked the power from the circuit and it was fine. It just would lose the power and eventually broke with a short due tobthe wiring of the dishwasher. Do not buy!

While we understand the importance of an appliance and its parts lasting for an extended amount of time, it is not possible to determine the product failure rate, lifespan, life expectancy, or life cycle of an appliance. There are multiple variables involved such as frequency of use, type of use, location of appliance, care, and maintenance. We advise scheduling service with one of our certified technicians to get this issue properly addressed. You can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliances technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
