Owned for about three years and in that time all plastic silverware cage mounts have broken, and this week the heating element failed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We have had four problems with our new GE dishwasher and it is very unlikely that we will ever buy another GE appliance.

1. The discharge hose leaked when we installed the unit and we were unable to get a relacement hose. We were told by three appliance parts distributors what the part we needed was not available from GE. We ended up using glue to stop the leak.
2. One of the gardes which keeps the top drawer from sliding out is sprungand allows the drawer to come off the tracks when I pull it out unless I pull the track at the same time I pull the drawer.
3. The dry feature does not get the dishes totally dry.
4. The soap dispenser does not open automatically; therefore, I have to leave it open when I use the dishwasher.

WORST DISHWASHER IN 42 YEARS

THE ONLY THING THIS DISHWASHER HAS GOING FOR IT IS IT'S LOOK OUTSIDE.I WISH I HAD NOT GONE WITH GE WHEN I STARTED OFF WITH NEW APPLIANCES. BUT I WANTED TO KEEP THE SAME TYPE OF STAINLESS IN ALL OF THEM.FIRST THING AND MOST IMPORTANT IS WHEN WASHING ALMOST ALL THE TIME THE CASADE DOESN'T DESOLVE AND THE DOOR AND SILVERWARE HAS TO BE WASHED ALL OVER. I THINK TO DISHES ARE RINSED BUT I AM NOT READY TO RUN THIS DISHWASHER FOR ANOTHER 3 HOURS ON A HEAVY CYCLE.I KNOW THIS WAS THE TYPE OF DISHWASHER TO SAVE ON ELECTRIC BUT REALL!!!!!IF I COULD GIVE IT 0 STARS I WOULD. ALSO ON THIS SITE IT SAYS IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE..WHY IS THAT...I KNOW...

Nice looks but doesn't dry well

Just bought & installed this dishwasher yesterday. Installation & setup was a breeze. We have run two loads through the machine so far on light load & heated dry setting and both times there has been water on everything when we open it up! I am really disappointed with this part of the dishwasher. I looked at the troubleshooting guide and tested my water temp which is at 127 coming into the dishwasher. On the next load, will use the heavy load setting as it suggests (totally defeats the purpose of having a light or medium load setting) if that doesn't work, I'm taking it back to the store.
On the other hand, the machine runs nice and quiet and we really like having the two silverware baskets which no other brand has currently. We always seem to have a lot of silverware in our loads each time so this was one of the selling points for us on this unit along with the adjustable top rack which really helps when you have a lot of plates or big bowls to wash. If this drying thing can get straightened out, we are looking forward to this being a great dishwasher and I will change the star rating I give it currently.

Love all of the extra options on the wash cycles

I originally decided purchase a different model that didn't and decided to upgrade to this model that had the built in food grinder. I am pleased that I did this is a great feature and I highly recommend it.

Not bad, but not quiet

When I first purchased this dishwasher it was more quiet than it is now. So in the past 3 months it's getting louder and louder. Dishes don't dry thoroughly and normal cycle takes forever to complete. It takes about 3 to 3 1/3 hours to complete and dry on normal. Never put it one heavy loud, that would probably take 5 hours.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
