I thought I would like. I have been using Phillips shavers for many, many years. The handle is bulky and my fingers keep shutting it off. The trimmer is hard to get out. Hard to clean.
I love the shave - close and easy! My girlfriend loves the results! I've been a Norelco customer for years and this is the best shave every! However... A couple of problems with the razor. First and foremost, the charging mechanism has no sensor to know if the battery is fully charged and shut down. If you accidentally leave the razor charging for even more than an hour you potentially will fry the electronics, rendering the shaver useless. This happened to me when I first bought the razor. Customer service was outstanding and replaced the razor body, but warned me to never let it charge for more than an hour. Now I watch the charge level and if it's low, try to remember the next morning before I get into the shower to plug it it. I'm am totally paranoid about destroying the razor again. For a company with the engineering skills of Phillips this is, to me, an incredible design flaw. Second complaint, traveling with this razor is impractical because you must take the charging stand with you, there is no way to just plug in the razor. The stand looks like it could easily be broken in a suitcase. Consequently, when I trave I leave the razor home and take an older Norelco with me. THat one is pretty ancent and is starting to fail so it looks like I'm going to have to buy a "travel razor".
So, short version, outstanding shave but I would not buy this one again.
Pros: great shave
Cons: easy to ruin the unit by overcharging, not practical for traveling
Good overall, but hard to handle when shaving. Does not fit the hand. Also, the recharging apparatus is bulky for travel. Needs a smaller (clip?) attachment to fit the contact points on the shaver.
I had been using the number one selling foil electric shaver for over 25 years and became increasingly more disappointed with the shave I was getting. Seemed like the earlier models were better but recent models were worse so I decided to try the Phillips Norelco 3D shaver as it had plenty of great reviews. I was pleasantly surprised how good a shave I got and it was in half the time of the foil shaver. There was no more going over and over the same spots. There is no more getting out the safety razor to shave areas the foil would not do well. I wish I had switched to the Norelco sooner.
I've been using Philips rotary razors for over 40 years and each new model performs better than earlier ones. I especially like the ability to use the razor with or without lather. It produces a closer shave with less irritation when using gel lather. The batter provides enough power for a full week of shaving.
I.ve owned Norelco Shavers since there were only two heads and they cost about $15.00; but this shaver with its unique design, is then best one I have ever used. It gets shaves much better and closer than any of the old flat head designs. I'm happy I purchased it.
Pros: shaves great, shaves close
Cons: travel is a problem when the charger has to go wit
