Toner Hungry

This has to be a design flaw. This unit only gets about 500 sheets per "Factory" toner. I called the factory and they explained how to reset the toner counter but it stops altogether after another 500 pages.
However, I bought some re-filled 3rd party toner and I get over 2000 sheets ... and the re-fills are cheaper???
I have a different Brother laser (HL-2240) that uses the same cartridges and it's fine but I see others here also have this same toner problem with this model so I suggest you stay away from this model.

Could Be Better

I have mixed feelings as well about this machine.
Overall, it does the wireless printing job well, but it is noisy and stays on with it's sound too long.
The auxiliary tray only takes one envelope at a time !! And only a few sheets of paper.
Come on Brother, get this right to compete with other brands.

Paper jams/my paper tray be full of paper and I keep getting an no paper in tray report.

Just OK

Had this copier for a few weeks seems ok. then black lines started showing up on copies. call tech support they walked me through a bunch of steps and seems to be alright now. when faxing there is no way to lower or shut off the sound. very loud. not good in a office room.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not what I expected.

The printing function works well, as does the fax. The scanner doesn't allow me to scan multiple pages as one file. Every page saves to a separate file. Very cumbersom to email recipients.
Have yet to figure out one touch scanning.
Also fairly noisy, except when sleeping.

I replaced my HL5250DN , which was rock solid, to get the all-in-one benefits. Setup was fast and easy and I've used it to print from multiple PC's on my wired network as well as from an Android tablet and my iPhone using Brother iprint. I've also faxed and copied without a hitch. This is the kind of value and performance I've come to expect from Brother products.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Macbook pro 15 and 17, G5 tower, 5 iPads, 7 iPods. i have owned 3 HP printers, 2 Cannon printers - all MFC's (AIO). this is the first one that scans to my computers. It is the first one that does it all via WiFi. I had no problem with the upgrade to snow leopard or Lion.

So Far So Good

I haven't used it extensively yet but it is a great versatile unit. A couple things bothered me. First, I started using it wireless, but at a location prone to power failures. Tech support said with a power failure, it may lose the wireless setting which could turn out to be a nuisance. Also, it prints duplex (both sides of paper) but when you select that option, if using Word 2010, the menu still implies you are only printing one side. Took a while for me to realize it would print both sides given that setting confusion.
I would recommend this to a friend!
