Great Product...few changes would make it perfect

I am CEO of a small nonprofit... so performance, cost & support are critical. I have experimented with 2 of the other major brands. I am now committed to Brothers... long story but best support I have had... also, fast and simple to use. Only chance I would make is the paper feed tray... Changing from legal to letter is a real pain!... Something you can do with one hand would be great.

Always Good Products - But Toner Warning Not Green

This little Brother is very functional for the price. Prints, Scans, and copies well. However, the low toner warning has been coming on for months. Granted, most of our printing is done at the office on another printer so this is low volume, but we have printed several hundred pages since the warning told us to replace the cartridge. What an absolute waste it would have been to have replaced it when the program told us to. Besides the unnecessary expense to us, what a detriment to our environment. Fuel burned to ship for recycle, energy used to recycle, fuel burned to ship the recycled product to new consumer. I'm not a green freak, but am concerned about wasteful use of our natural resources. Come on, Brother, recalibrate your sensors so that replacement warning comes on at the appropriate time. Here's an idea, indicate the actual number of pages left at typical toner usage per page and allow the consumer to set when the warning comes on - 500 pages, 200, 100 pages, etc. Toner replacement warnings that come way too early, and often, only serve to irritate otherwise loyal customers and harm the environment.

Serious connectivity problems

This is my 3rd Brother wireless printer. The first two hooked up like a charm and are just there when I need them. This one is a complete pain in the a**. Printing etc are fine but just won't stay online via the wifi link. I am an experienced user (30+ years) and nothing I try works for long. DHCP or static IP doesn't matter. I think that when it goes to sleep it won't wake up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Purchase

We have a small office and it does everything we need, fax, scan & print. It is fast, quiet and the print quality is excellent. The set up was easy and we have had no issues! We would highly recommend it for home or office if no color printing is needed. We have always had HP printers, but we are considering a Brother color laser printer, since we like this one so much.

Great home office device

The unit provides high quality print output and a solid auto feed scanner. The scanner feeder has handled thick & thin and narrow & wide paper. I scan as much as I print and I'm very happy with this unit after 3 months of use.
The inclusion of the paperpot software to support the scanning functions is an outstanding feature. This combination of hardware+software has made my electronic document management a painless process.
The device drivers installed on my win7 64 bit machine without a problem. My netbook also works without complaint.
I calculate the toner supplies are half the cost of my previous ink cartridge costs. ( gave up color )

I was looking for a black and white laser printer to replace my old color jet ink printer! I did some research and found this brothers MFC-7860DW had all the options for multifunction printer I was looking for at a competative price. It was an easy wireless set-up and prints at a good speed. The laser cartriges are sold at a competative price. I would recommend this multifuction printer to anyone looking for a good black and white printer.

This is my second Brother multifunction laser printer. I purchased the first one years ago and it's still going strong with my son at college. I decided to get a new one for the duplexing feature which you can't find anywhere at this price. The feature works beautifully. The print quality looks as good as a printer costing 3x as much. The scanner and fax (who ever faxes anymore?) work great. This is a great machine for home, school or a small office. My only issue is that the manual feed doesn't always grasp the paper on the first try. Similar to my last one and I had hoped they would have improved it. A minor inconvenience. Maybe the next model.

I love my new toy!!

After fighting against our old HP Photosmart inkjet printer for months, we finally got this glowing new toy Brother MFC-7860DW!! I could not believe a big company like HP could not develop a Windows 7 compatible driver for their printers! I fell in love with the Brother printer the same day I got it, which is today! The installing driver is so compatible to our Windows 7 64x system. The installing process is smooth. The keyboards on the printer are so comfortable. Wireless printing and scanning works pretty well too. Perfect choice for home and small business use! Very cost effective compared to other products on the market!!
