Not user friendly for Mac
on October 21, 2013

This has been a challenge getting set up for a Mac. It took me well into 3hrs to get it setup. The instruction disc does not work in the mac, the web site I had to dig and dig to find help and every time I need info I have to go did vs. going to the user guide because it's audience is for PC users not mac. Once installed it works great and appears to be smooth sailing. Except for scanning I was able to see in scan to my Mac but good lucking fining where it was stored.

This is my second machine from Brother and the only reason I have only owned two is they last and they do the job. There is a lot in that statement, buy Brother.

Purchased this to replace an earlier 7820 that had died. Problems with paper feed out of the box but the replacement has worked fine.
Brother's software works well even over a WLAN and is reliable

Fair Purchase

I have mixed feelings about this printer. I like the fact that it has a spot to feed envelopes through; however, often times the envelopes jam and you have to re-set the printer. Also, if you are printing multiple pages of the same item, many times the print on each page is grainy or smudged. Some will be clear and others are really grainy. It seems like the printer is using too much ink. As of yet, I have not found a way to correct this problem. Pretty good printer.

A very good multifunction unit.

You get a lot of bang for the buck in this unit. It prints well, copies well, faxes well and it is very easy to replace toner cartridges when they become exhausted. I have only two annoyances with this unit.
1. The printer tells you to replace the toner cartridge about 200 pages before it is necessary to do so. and
2. It is very difficult to get single sheets of paper to to feed properly (straight) when utilizing the bypass slot. This takes both practice and patience.
All things considered, this device is a good buy for the money. As a bonus, the fax is designed to work on digital phone lines in addition to the standard analog line. This is a feature that was lacking in my two other multifunction units.

Really nice printer

This printer was easy to set up for wireless service, so I can use it from anywhere in the house, from multiple PC's.
Very good print quality and the scanning feature does a great job of recording business expense receipts to attach to expense reports.
It was a good purchase at a reasonable price.

MFC-7860DW review

After good research, I thought this was the best value for the dollar. However, maybe it is my system, but it takes awhile for printer to be recognized, then print. Manually feeding for duplex is an issue as it hardly ever feeds and prints straight on the paper. The last disappointment is after printing, a noisy fan runs for a few minutes before turning off. Why can't it be a ''quiet' fan?

Excellent Machine

This is a very well thought out machine, and I especially like the high resolution scanning capability. I also like being able to replace toner without replacing the drum every time, since that saves a good bit of money. At the same time, I don't think even the large size toner matches the capacity of the Canon printer I replaced. The wireless capability is outstanding!
