Nice machine

Overall satisfied with the unit but have a few issues.
Disappointed with the toner usage. Although it was clearly stated 1200 pieces for the small toner my first started failing at only 850. Setting the printer on toner saver mode for the next cartridge helped but copies are fair.

Photo copies are dark and poor quality on normal settings and to light on "lighter" setting, particularly when there is shading in the background. My Inkjets do a much better job.
Lastly, the wifi connection is knocked out when we have lightening storms (daily in the summer here in Florida) and the router has to be rebooted. My four other PC's & printers do not do this.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Solid, reliable printer

This printer works very well, trouble-free and jam-free, and compared to many other printer brands is economical on toner.
I bought this one to replace another Brother printer which gave excellent service for about 8 years of regular daily, fairly heavy use; it still works well as a backup; only the ADF function has died from old age. (Probably just needs a feed part replaced, but as cheap as the new one is, it's a lot quicker to just replace it.)
I would recommend this to a friend!

O Brother, How I LOVE Thee!

My 7460 laser printer arrived early so I had to wait until the next day to get the 6' USB cable needed. Experienced problem with the defective setup disc and contacted Brother Help to resolve. My computer stated that there was a missing file (BROSNMP.DLL) which surprised me in that I was replacing an older Brother printer (4300). After going to the Brother site, deleting the corrupted install, replacing it with the online version, the 7460 has been working wonderfully.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Most disappointing

Supplied Nuance s/w has limited function. Bought PDF Create-8 but it will not install due to file conflicts with their pre-loaded (by Brother) s/w bundle (CONTRARY to what Brother assured). Wastes much time to accomplish nothing. Nuance & Brother both point to each other as the culprit.
Finding help from either co. is as EZ as winning the lottery. Support staff, once reached, are not equipped to provide help, or, for that matter, to even understand the problem(s).
Meanwhile, Nuance continues to deliver popups promoting great offers to upgrade s/w, but the clicked LINKS go nowhere due to 'server' issues, & its sales dept. insists they come from Brother, anyway. The two companies are well mated partners.

A good choice for me

I have been pretty pleased with the Brother MFC-7860DW. It works wirelessly with both my desktop and laptop computers. Text prints quickly and is very crisp. I have had some trouble with losing the wireless connection, as well as scanning and faxing from my computer. I think these can be resolved when I get the time to call tech support. I've called tech support several times (...) and they have been extremely helpful. I think things will work out fine in the end. Have had the unit about 2 months.

I enjoy using the product. It provides excellent service and is great at all functions that it provides. The only drawback is the initial toner cartridge is very small and started saying out of toner very soon after starting to use the printer.
other than that, the replacement cartridge is reasonable.

Does the job

I needed a printer to make permanent copies that would not be affected by water, and that meant a laser printer. I bought the Brother on the recommendation of a friend, and am very pleased with the performance. It is quick and quiet, and produces very crisp, clear copies. I now use it in "toner saver" mode and notice no difference in the quality of the copies.
I would recommend this to a friend!
