Could Be Better

Prints great but there are a couple of issues: (1) Labels almost always end up printing crooked and (2) when there is a jam you have to completely remove the drum and reinsert it (which has absolutely nothing at all to do with a jam).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Do-It-All Printer

I have gone three Brother printers in the five or six years. Each has performed well. Each new printer has been an upgrade. The MCF-7860 seems to have all the features that I will need for a while. This upgrade included the automatic document feeder. I regularly scan documents of 5, 10, or 20 pages. The auto feeder eliminates that walk across the room to place the next page in the scanner. The scanner software provided with the printer is good, but with the 7860 I can use software already installed on my laptops to created PDFs (literally at the press of a button). What took 20 to 30 minutes to do without the auto feeder, now takes less than one minute.

Toner Hog

This is a toner hog. I'm on my 3rd toner cartridge in less than 2 months. I put the last toner (TN420) in 9 days ago and I'm getting a message already to replace it. It will be cheaper for me to junk the machine rather than use it for a year.
Absolutely terrible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Outstanding printer

Best features - double sided printing, 2 in 1 ID copy, copies from 1 to 2 sides, fast printing, printer doesn't take up much space, very reliable. I had an older model Brother for many years, the 7340, which I never had a problem with and traded up to this model for the double sided printing. This is without doubt a fine printer and I highly recommend it.

This is a great printer. I am sold on Brother products pverall. On initial setup I has difficulty gettinmy my printer to print with the machine. A brief phone call the Brother support had me up and going in 15 minutes. I just needed to change some settings on my computer. It is a great product and the support is outstanding!

Upgrading to a better machine

I've been a small office user of Brother Laser MF machines for some time. The cost of ink, the excellent customer support, particularly for network printing and reliability have been great. My 8660DN was having paperfeed issues and cost to fix was about half the price of a new machine. (It was 6 years old) Current model had all the features and them some and took a smaller footprint. Easier envelope and special paper slot is convenient. Still need to figure out how to scan multiple pages. Once you get a Brother printer, nothing else really does the job so efficiently.
