Nice, but a bit noisy

I had great previous experience with another Brother laser MFC that I owned for 8 years, but I now needed a wireless model. This one fit the bill for my needs: wireless printing, wireless scanning, and copying and faxing. I had no problem setting it up to work wirelessly with my Apple MacBook Pro. All the function I've tried (I haven't tried duplex printing) work great. My only issue is that the machine is definitely more noisy when on than my previous Brother MFC. But, on balance, I still recommend it.

Good Value

I like the MFC 78-60. The fax, and copy are easy to use and I appreciate the low cost per page printing. I used to buy HP printers because they last forever; but the cost of their printer ink is double the cost of this machine. Time will tell how this holds up. The scanner was a bit more difficult. It does not allow you to scan directly to email unless you have an MSN account, which I don't. so that is somewhat misleading. So then you are stuck with the old method of scanning the document to your computer and then emailing it as an attachment. I wish I did not have to take that extra step and do not like that I have to hook up with a micro-soft MSN account to use that direct email function

I would only purchase Brother printers. This printer works flawlessly. The page feeder mechanism is the best and the wi-fi is easy to set up and use. I have owned serveral brands of printers and Brother is the best for the money.

Like all the other reviews, this printer is extremely easy to setup. Use a usb cable for first initial setup even for wireless network just to program it to talk to your network. Once done, rest of computers just run the software and done. I've had problems in the past trying to set networks up before but as long as you read the instructions wich are easy to understand, takes less then 5 minutes! This is the best machine I ever purchased, use it constantly in my home network shared with 1 pc, 2 laptops, & 2 smart phones. Highly recommend to everyone. Truely is a multifunction center, takes a lot of work out of easy printing, scanning, copying and faxing!

Excellent MFC Value

This MFC-7860DW replaced an older HP 3100 Multifunction Copier.
This MFC is used in a single user / wireless configuration for home / office use.
To set the MFC up for FAXing, I basically followed the Quick Setup Guide, referencing the Basic and
Advanced Users Guide. I set the Fax Transmission Report to Verification, On + Image and Real Time
Transmission Off. This has worked well and gives confirmation of transmission to include a partial snapshot of the FAX which would be very useful if used in a mulit-user environment.
To set the MFC up for wireless use, I chose to do it Manually from the Control Panel.
I went to the MFC-7680DW site and followed the video and everything went well (take notes).
To install the MFC-7860DW Drivers and Utilities from the CD, I Left My Antivirus Software Running, printer & router ON.
Before proceeding with the install, however, I first viewed the video from the Brother site and took notes. The AV software asked for permission for the install, then all proceeded without incident.
The printer confirmed connection with the PC and all was operational.
Since having this MFC, I have used basically all functions except printing envelopes & labels.
Using recommended paper, I have printed 1822 pages, scanned, faxed etc. without a single jam or misfeed over a 4-1/2 month period.
I consider the MFC-7860DW very reliable and an excellent value.
Last but not least, the Duplex feature has proved very useful, and print speed (and quality) are quite good.
Yes, I would recommend this MFC to a friend.

Works well when set up, but I had problems getting the drivers installed correctly. Luckly, customer support helped me and everything works fine now and I like the results a lot.

love it

I absolutely love the machine. The only problem I have is that sometimes it answers the phone with the fax sound before the phone answering machine does. So often people would tell me they called and could not leave message.

works in XP PITA under win 8 64 bit

Works great under win xp 32 bit, upgraded to win 8 64 bit and lost printing capability and scanner under Paperport 12, no twain or WIA. 7860dw would not install by USB as it did under winXP. Only way to install under Win 8/64 was to use the LAN install setup. Only then would printer accept test page and then Paperport 12 Pro would see a twain or WIA scanner.
Brother software for Win 8/64 did not work using the printer and USB cables, tried multiple USB cables.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
