Wonderful Mat

I got this mat as a Christmas gift from my mom a year or two ago. I love it. I love rolling out the tree and standing at the base. It helps ground me. I do agree with some that it is a little on the thin side, but depending on the yoga type and instructor that I have it works perfectly. For some of my more intense hot yoga, I do HAVE to put a towel down or else I'll slide all over the place!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This mat is very attractive and does the job. it is on the thinner side so if you have bad wrists or knees I would recommend a thicker mat or towel when using this. It is a great beginner, basic mat!

I chose this mat because it does not have the most harmful chemicals that most yoga mats have.  I also love the color and tree pattern on the mat.  It works well to keep me from slipping when performing standing poses and is comfortable when lying down.  I recommend it.

As a RYT, my yoga mats take a beating -- this mat has handled the wear and tear well over a year and a half of steady use.

NOT Durable Yoga Mat

I purchased this yoga mat about 2 months ago, but did not start using it until a week ago. I wish I had started using it earlier, NOT because it's such an amazing yoga mat, but because I would have returned it. In the week that I have used it, the mat is ALREADY starting to show little tear marks between the ridges of the mat. Furthermore, this mat is slippery. I'm really disappointed in this product, as it was my first and last Gaiam purchase.

Pretty Mat

I did not notice a chemical or plastic smell...maybe that was a one time thing. I picked this mat out because I like the soothing green color and I thought the tree of life image was very pretty and appropriate for yoga poses. One thing I will say is that it is a little odd having an image on your mat that has a top and a bottom. Sometimes I find myself getting a little distracted by the image if I'm doing an asana where I'm standing at the top of the tree because the orientation of the image is upside down. I think that's a personal thing. But the mat has served me well both in yoga class and at home. Overall I like having the tree of life with me when I'm doing my yoga.
Pros: attractive, Comfortable, grounding
Cons: upside down trees

Stinky Sticky Mat

The moment I opened the package for this mat, I knew I wouldn't be able to use it. The chemical smell eminating from it makes yoga impossible--my throat immediately became sore. I tried washing it, but the smell has not gone away. Do not purchase this if you are sensitive to chemicals (which I am generally NOT--that's how strong the smell is). I will return this product.
Cons: Bad Smell
