1 battery works for the remote.

After Philips explained that "they don't support Duracell" I tried an energizer AAA in the remote and it won't work. It continues to work with the 1 battery the product came with but besides that apparently the remote is an ok paper weight. Good job on manufacturing a product that you have to replace instead of just using another battery. Thanks Philips.
Pros: sound bar is loud
Cons: remote is trash

This is truly the worst surround sound bar in existence.

First thing that didn't work about it... the supposed surround sound... come on, I mean... this is the worst excuse for an interpretation of surround sound. its a button on the poorly designed and very randomly working remote that makes everything have a 1.5 second echo delay.. and all it does is distract from the experience. The sound quality overall is mediocre at best, and the design.. i mean.. forget it. There isn't even a volume control or power button on the actual soundbar. I am so upset that I bought this thing. Its useless, its cheap, and it will make you sad you spent your hard earned money on it.

Better than the sound i get out of my television itself.

I bought this sondbar because the Philips TV i have has horrible sound quality. The soundbar has definitely improved my overall watching experience. The surround sound option on it sounds like an echo, but with it off, the sound is perfect. Would definitely recommend the soundbar to others, especially for the price.
Pros: louder than my tv sound.
Cons: bass could be smoother, surround option is no good

Excellent for its price

This product comes with a good subwoofer based of course from its price. There are better soundbars of better performance but at a higher price. If you are looking for a decent speaker, buy this.

Easy to Install, Reasonable over pricing, Great features.

Leave it to a company as versatile as Philips to come up with a Sound Bar that allows the user to take a wonderful new Television and allows it to have great, dolby digital sound. Easy to Install, Reasonable to Buy, Interesting to Install. Now I feel as If the 40" Samsung LED Television has wonderful sound to go with its excellent resolution. I have always been amazed and yet overall Philips makes great products and has for many many years. Thank you Philips for solving a very basic problem with a simple easy to use speaker bar system.
Pros: easy to install, very modern and has great sound quality., looks wonderful, it may not have a speaker in every room but works
Cons: needed a little help from an electrician to instal

Very nice design not very good performance

I got this to go with my philips TV.
design and appearance wise it looks good.
It was easy to connect ad long as you bought cables when you made purchase.
The remote is tiny and could not be programmed into universal remote.
There is no indicator when the buttons are pressed and the layout of buttons in not user friendly. After 7 months of use it started showing sign of failure. It was randomly turn off or not respond to increase volume control changed battery so many times to give the product a benefit of the doubt in its performance. I have finally realized you get what you pay for and for what I paid I got an awakward looking paper weight. The more higher end philips sound bar did get better reviews so I shall try my luck again this boxing day.

poorly executed implementation

The remote control is mostly nonfunctional and even when it does work the bar itself is very slow to respond. Also, the indicators are on the top and are thus not visible from any sensible location one would use the remote from.
Also the sound is only marginally better than the tv speakers in the first place.
Cons: remote useless, sound only marginally better
