Not as Good!

I have owned one of these for years. Had two of them and used them at the same time forever. I loved them and said I wouldn't buy anything different. Had to buy one a year ago, received it, wasn't made well, sent it back for an exchange and still the same thing. I kept it because I really thought it would be okay but I have never been satisfied with it. It also bakes unevenly. Needing another one now after 13 months. I will try it one more time and see what happens. If not satisfied again I will not purchase any more.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the look but not the plates

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As with a lot of other people in this comment section the plates of the waffle maker lost their ability to separate from the waffles even when using non-stick spray.
I remember using almost this exact model as a kid at my parents house, in fact that's why my mother purchased me this when I got my own place with my wife. I wish there was some way I could get better plates so that I could continue using it. In fact the only reason it's not a five-star product, is because of the plates.
I actually really hope that if my issue is resolved that I can change this to a higher star rating.

Don't even think about buying this shoddy product

The clips aren't strong enough to hold the plates. The waffle iron is difficult to open when the waffle is done. The finished waffle usually sticks to one of the plates and has to be clawed away from the other with a fork, destroying it. Sometimes BOTH sides stick and the waffle rips apart in the middle, with one half stuck to the top and the other half stuck to the bottom. It cooks unevenly, with, say, the left side dark and right side very light. That's because the heating rings tilt and can't be made to stay horizontal. Most inferior product I have ever bought!

Poor quality of the "non stick" surface

I too have the same problem with the non stick coating coming off. I get little black specks in the waffles that I have to pick out. Unfortunately I have to throw some out instead of feeding them to my kids. Too bad, like others have commented on, definitely not like the Black and Decker quality of years past.

I have mixed emotions about this product. The plates move around and are very loose. The griddle part does not cook very well. I tried to make pancakes and it took over 20 minutes and they did not taste very good, almost like they were still undercooked. I did let it heat up for the proper amount of time. Once the waffles are done, they taste great; however I have to flip them over half way through so the back can get cooked all the way, because it does not cook evenly at all. The front gets done before the back and the top on front and back does not cook well at all. All in all I love the taste of the waffles, but am disappointed and sorry I paid so much for something that really doesn't work that well. If I still had the box and had only used it once, I would probably be returning this product, if it were possible.

I had a Black and Decker waffle iron since 2007. It was used a lot and did an awesome job making waffles. The heating element went out recently. We purchased a waffle iron just like the one we had but were so disappointed with the initial use. They did not cook evenly and never turned golden brown. The grid came off in use as the clamp to hold it in place was not good. We tried another time after waiting a few days and the result was the same. The heating elements do not do the job.
