I bought this online from Home Depot. Product arrived, and I examined it externally, everything appeared fine. But a month later when the contractor was ready and went to install it, the tabs on the doors were broken, they had been broken at the factory. It could not be replaced because it was no longer consider "new", a week had passed since it arrived. GE did replace the door, and it seems to work fine, with an extra push the door shuts securely. In the future, open all wrapping, and inspect your delivery.

Poor Quality Control

Ordered this microwave online from a big box store. First one arrived damaged, sent it back. Second one arrived damaged, sent it back. Third one arrived with small dent in side that would be hidden by cabinets. This whole process took about two months, so at this point in time we decided to keep this unit although it was not dent free. Not sure how the damage occurred in all three appliances. Manager at store stated that they have experienced this problem numerous times with GE products. Only had the microwave in use for a few days now, so it is too early to tell how it will perform and how reliable it will be.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased the GE 1.7 to replace my GE 1800, which was 11 years old. Very disappointed that I couldn't say 20 years old. Installed myself using old/already installed hanger. Installation went with ease. To aid with installation, I placed "milk box"about 18 inches cubed) on top of stove and microwave on top of milk box, then lifted in place. I'm 72 years old and needed the milk box. Just purchased, applied power to the microwave and checked several functions with no problem found. If I experience any problems in the years to come, I will give an update. One other thing, my house exhaust vent did not aline with the unit. Problem was house vent was off center. The unit vent is adjustible. Be sure to align the vent.

Microwave in New Home

This was a microwave placed in a new home. It has all your basic microwave features. The microwave malfunctioned within the first six months of owning it. A GE service representative did replace the part and all has been working well for the last couple of months.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The right size for our application,was replacing a range hood when came across the microwave and it compliments our kitchen and works great. Like the vented feature and it lined up with our old exhaust vent to the outside.It is a quick cooker and quiet, controls are well placed and easy to figure which button to use for what your doing. Love the express feature, saves a lot of time.
