Easy to set up
on February 8, 2011
Posted by: DurocShark
This arrived today. I had it plugged into my LCD TV and playing my Pandora station in less than 30 minutes! Only a few more minutes to set up my Netflix account.
Popped a BD in and everything was flawless..
I don't like the remote. Too busy. I have to teach my wife how to use it... ugh. And I never liked my PS3's interface, and .. Oh, look! It's on my BD player too! Sigh. It's functional, but not my favorite.
The inability to browse Netflix is a bummer, but has a side benefit. I can pre-load the queue with stuff for my little girl, and she can launch them without assistance. When I was using an HTPC for Netflix, I always had to do it to keep her from accidentally launching something inappropriate.
So far I'm *very* happy. If it lasts as long as my Sony DVD player, I'll have gotten my moneys worth tenfold!
What's great about it: Price, easy setup, features
What's not so great: Remote, PS3-esque interface
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great player

It does what it was meant to do and that is play Blu-ray DVD's. The load time is pretty much instant (seconds) compared to my old Blu-ray player (2 yrs old), which took a 3-5 minutes between load times.
I was suprised at the menu screen. Looked like I was playing on my PSP.
The picture looks a lot more smoother too compared to my old one. I guess I just needed an upgrade.
The slim design is great. All the other ones I've seen are so much bulkier and look like they were meant to make you cappuccino's for the extra $100-200 to watch with your movie.
I dont care to much about the web apps or the wifi connectivity, all that seems like extra fluff to help it sell... and besides you have to pay for those services, so why bother.
If you just want something to play Blu-ray DVD's, then this is a great player. The price is decent and at some stores you can find it for sale at around $100.
No issues... yet
What's great about it: Plays Blu-rays

Switched from Samsung to this... glad I did.
on April 3, 2011
Posted by: ProsCons
Bought a Samsung which failed within a week, took it back and picked this up instead. In comparison, I'm VERY glad I did. Picture quality is comparable, but loading movies and navigating through menus is much faster. Perhaps that was due to the problems/errors with that particular Samsung, I don't know, but this is much faster. Several people blasted this unit because you can't search Netflix for movies -- doesn't bother me, because I can do that with my desktop, laptop, PS3, etc. I just want to use this unit to WATCH Netflix, which I can and it does well. The Pandora interface is very impressive, also, complete with album-covers-turned-screensaver. Minor annoyance: the home menu is full of services I don't (and will never) use, but I can't figure out how to get rid of them -- I want a CLUTTER-FREE interface, not advertisements in my face 24/7. If I find a way to delete/hide these unused services, I'd give this unit 5 stars. If it fails on me in the near future, it will drop quickly to 1 or 2 stars, but so far -- quite good! BONUS: this plays my SuperAudio CDs VERY WELL, which the Samsung could not do.
What's great about it: Picture Quality, Speed, Interface
What's not so great: Menu "Clutter"

THE Blu-ray Player!
on May 31, 2011

I bought this along with my Sony Bravia TV and they work great together. For a lot of functions you can use blu-ray remote and not even need the Bravia remote. Only slight con here is with this model you need a wi-fi adapter if you want to connect to the internet wireless. I just used a Cat-5 cable from an office store and connected the blu-ray to my router and it works great. I read when I bought this about some peoples complaints about not being able to just browse through Netflix, but that is no longer the case. You can now browse though any "watch intantly movie" and play it. So many other things to use as well! I LOVE this blu-ray player!
What's great about it: Easy to use, great quality video.
What's not so great: None.

Works Great for Netflix
on November 2, 2011
Posted by: Anonymous
I was worried after reading some of the earlier reviews about compatibility issues with Netflix, but after speaking to Netflix they told me that Sony has upgraded everything to make it fully intergrated with Netflix.
I will try Hulu next.
What's great about it: Netflix is clear and stable and the full Netflix library is shown on the screen
What's not so great: None so far

Great Experience
on June 14, 2011
Posted by: Anonymous
I have read the reviews and cannot agree with them. Perhaps the newest firmware version updated a lot of items people complained about.
I can watch Netflix without having to Queue.
I can search for items as needed and add them to my Queue if I like.
I have had a great experience with my player thus far. I am very pleased.
What's great about it: Easy install and configuration
What's not so great: Interface is a little clunky

This product is pretty amazing. I was bery impressed with the quality of the screen and how sympol it was to setup. Yes you need to purchase a wifi adaplter but when streaming movies nothing can beat good ol' fashioned hardwire ethernet. My only regret is that you can only see your netflix instant que but who knows it could change!
What's great about it: Fast, many apps, smooth, great quality
What's not so great: Netflix isnt full browser
I would recommend this to a friend!

Preference will be your final decision...
on April 10, 2011

After trying out a few top leading brand blu ray players I came across a sony review of the bdps370 online. Wow, was I impressed. Went to the store and instead of purchasing the 370 decided to go with the 380 due to the fact its a newer model.
So here is a quick and easy to read review that will hopefully help you in your decision making process...
As soon as I plugged it in and turn it on I noticed 3 important things...
1. Very quick start up time.
2. Quick and Easy set up. (Used wired set up for Network)
3. Response time.
This player is great for...
1. Watching blu ray disc movies
2. Streaming web content online (i.e hulu plus, vudu etc)
3. Music, Video and Picture content
4. Bravia Sync.
The Performace..
1. Doesn't lag when watching any online streaming video content.
2. The remote communicates great with the player allowing quick response time when scrolling through the interface and selecting apps.
The picture quality...
1. Very vivid.
2. Very deep yet bright colors.
3. Looks great anywhere from 720p-1080p
Minor Adjustments...
1. Would be nice to see more user fun apps like (sport updates, weather etc.) Could use more widgets.
2. Would be nice if netflix movies came pre loaded on player. Instead you have to add the ones you want to your instant que from pc.
Well, thats all I can think of for now...
I hope this helped you. Good luck!!!
What's great about it: Smooth Scrolling, Fast, Great picture quality, Web stream great,
What's not so great: Limited Apps. No app store.
