Before deciding on what dehydrator I wanted to buy, I did a lot of research. The Excalibur line was an obvious front runner and was pleased to see they are not only manufactured in the USA but in Sacramento, CA (which is where I live). Also pleasantly surprised with all the color/metal options available. When the unit arrived, not only was I especially impressed with the initial quality but also the antique copper metal housing looks especially nice and feels durable. The extra cost is well worth the color and metal option. If you use it as much as I do you'll appreciate a dehydrator that is built to last yet not an eye sore in your kitchen. Another thing I especially like is how it maximizes the surface area for dehydrating. You can fill the whole inside area with product. It is amazing how much you can dry in one batch. Also the book that comes with it is great for beginners or advanced dehydrating. I have no complaints. If you are still reading, I also recommend disregarding the 1 star "Christmas present" review which has nothing to do with the product quality and offers no context as to the order lead time or reasonableness of the customer service that was provided when the order could not be delivered on time. Thanks for such an awesome commercial quality dehydrator that is priced and styled for the at-home user! For beginners to advanced dehydrating, this product line will do it all. I highly recommend.
