Since I've only had this new range a couple weeks as I write this, certainly the longevity remains to be seen. This replaced a 27yr old Roper that was still in fine working order but the controller was on it's way out and the cost of the part and then repairs was prohibitive on an appliance so old so I went shopping for a replacement that 'I disliked the least'! I do NOT expect to get 27yrs from this range but....it is beautiful, it looks great with my oak cabinets and I love the bigger burners. Not the huge grate (don't like those much) but the actual burner that allows for a lower setting while still putting a nice flame under a larger portion of the pan. The coated racks slide in and out very smoothly and so far as I can tell oven temps are true. It does have a convection option that will probably never get used but I chose this model because of the 3pc grate on the stove top and also went for this 'older' model because I preferred the more rounded shape of the grates. I used the center burner with an odd size oval pan that I have but it did not seem to heat as well as I expected it would to do the saute stage of what I was preparing. It did a great job of heating the griddle section however and made beautiful pancakes for breakfast! I guess I will use that griddle a little more than I thought I would. The slate color part of it cleans up easily but the stove top itself around the burners is shiny dark gray/black and no matter what you wipe it down with, you see streaks unless you take the time to dry it. I will probably look into the matching slate color for the refrigerator and dishwasher when they need to be replaced. Overall, so far, very happy with this range. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Wonderful replacement

Our 1993 stove/oven failed and we needed to purchase a replacement. I love the features and the multiple-sized burners. Have not tried the griddle burner yet, but am sure that it will allow me to make evenly-cooked pancakes without having to cook them one at a time.

Self cleaning nightmare

When I used the self clean feature the whole stove become too hot to touch. I even needed a hot pad to remove my tea kettle on the top. One of the control handles melted, & the inside of the door dis colored. We had a service man here, that assured us that the unit would get extremely hot in self clean mode, & to just use it at nite & infrequently( like once a year). I've had several electric ovens before that self clean wonderfully & don't get hot. I am afraid to use this feature again for fear of fire. Certainly wouldn't use at night
