Gas oven eats both electricity and gas inefficient

We got this with a cabin we purchased (the oven was a year old at the time). We’re off grid but have a great solar system so electricity is usually not an issue…unless you use this gas oven. I know, doesn’t make sense. Took us awhile to figure out the gas oven was the reason we were low on power. The oven uses a steady 400 watts of power anytime the oven is heating! That’s more power than everything else in the house combined (other than shop power tools like the table saw). That’s CRAZY. Using power to light the oven makes sense, but it shouldn’t need power to stay lit. Our other gas appliances (wall heater, hot water, etc) all use power to light but then the power turns off and they use a thermocouple for safety in case the flame goes out. Having the igniter run constantly is just bad design.
If this oven worked better (IE heating to temperature and evenly), and the stovetop had any setting other than boil (even set below Lo on the dial will boil water) then this might be acceptable…at least for on-grid houses… but this thing eats both electricity and gas, so the low price isn’t worth it. You’ll eat up any savings in utility usage.
On top of that the 15 seconds it takes to light the oven means we get a good dose of gas fumes every time we light the oven. Oh, and as others said, the clock lasted a year.

Performance is fine for an entry level range. The clock failed within 3 months of purchase. Even clocks in 1960s automobiles lasted longer than that.

VINTAGE LOOK, MODERN CONVENIENCE

We needed something that matched the appearance of our 1920's Maine camp, but offered the convenience of a modern appliance. We saw this Artistry stove at a friend's vacation rental and knew it was the solution to replacing our 1920's electric vintage oven in our vacation rental. The simplicity of design won us over. Sealed cooktop makes it ideal for easy clean-up in a vacation rental.

Great nostalgic look

I just bought an 1854 farm house with attached barn. There weren't any appliances. I wanted them to fit in with the style and age of the house. This stove is the closest possible that is also modern on the inside! Love it!

This range fit our space and budget. I like the retro look, but the knobs turn easily when on, so must be careful not to brush against them while cooking. There were very strong fumes for the first few uses of the oven/broiler, but after that, the fumes are gone. The clock is a little loud, and there is no timer. Otherwise, I am happy with it.

only problem is its a bit hot at the back on the top when oven on.. like pan handles get really hot just by hovering over the top... think the vent is located there...I was scared at first but I guess its normal..
