Good and Bad

Good: lots of free channels (popcorn flix, crumble, grindhouse, etc..), most channels have smooth interface. Box is very compact and simple.
Bad: Remote is terrible won't stop disconnecting (have to use phone app to sync again), where is the off switch? overheats and must unplug with frequent use.

Quite easy to set up. I loved the humorous directions. It really works well... but the programming ends up being a bit expensive. I plan to wean the rest of the family off of cable and use a subscription service to replace for entertainment. That is going to be a difficult sale for me to make. So right now the added programming is just costing me more money.

Love this, I don't even watch regular tv anymore, I also can use it for I HEART RADIO to listen to my favorite local station that I am unable to get on my regular stereo receiver. Watching You Tube Videos on a 42" screen is awesome. The only issue I have is my signal from the ATT internet connection sometimes is not good because of where I live I do not have the highest DSL level, it is not available in my area.

I wanted headphone capabilities...great when you are watching (listening to)programs originated in the queens English. I can easily hear what's being said if I don't always understand what they are saying.

Very glad we bought it. It's nice to be able to watch what we want when we want and if we select a movie that's not worth watching we can just change it.

Like it, but have problems with close captions.

Have used it and like it, but can't always activate close captions which I need. After I select it, the selection reverts back to the default when I pause or rewind. It's a pain. Also, can't stream at 1080p even though my HDTV is rated at 1080p. My ROKU 2 always streams at 720p instead. But picture is acceptable.

The future of TV

Just got my ROKU a few days ago. So far the only complaints I have are the services that are offered are expensive, or they have really old stuff. But I'm sure as this type of entertainment delivery system becomes more mainstay the prices will come down. There are quite a few "apps" for other than TV/Movies, but a lot of them are no longer supported, however they still appear on the app list. Alos, I selected a bunch of apps from the website but they weren't selected once I started the ROKU and I had to reselect them from the TV. Lastly, the remote is a little small, because of that it is a little awkward to use, but not terribly so. Would also be better if the volume control was on the surface not the side. Overall it's great. If I had to do it over I'd have bought the ROKU3 for the faster processor, but the 2 is great!
