Easy to use and great directions

This Roku goes a long way toward expanding our viewing. Cable is outrageously expensive. We enjoy being able to add sports packages especially. Needed our son to set up but that is my techo-lack, not a product lack.

Best option available

For us, not having a television subscription of any kind was a big change. It wasn't so much of a compromise as it was a necessity for our household at that point. But Roku enabled us to be able to not feel so left alone from the world without having cable or satellite anymore. The apps/channels available (even the free ones) give us an incredible selection of viewing. We are more than pleased.

The best alternative to cable or satellite TV

I was using the first, original Roku player, but needed to upgrade when I found the older model does not support all of the new channels the service offers, like PBS. I cannot be happier! This device was super easy to install and works faster than the older model. The newer interface is really nice and much easier to use, as well. The remote allows you to plug in the included ear buds and listen in quiet, which is a nice touch.
This upgrade was precipitated by us finally cutting our cable TV. We now use our Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions daily, as well as several of the other channels that Roku offers, including MLB, PBS and Hulu+. There are also many channels to choose that offer foreign programming (Korean, Chinese, Indian, etc.). Roku is constantly adding new channels, and the nice thing is that you only have to subscribe to the ones YOU want.
Roku offers several different models at different price points. Check them out and compare before buying to make sure the model you select fits your budget. The Roku 2 is all we need, and we really are happy with it.

We really enjoy using our Roku 2 and have had only a few minor issues with it that are outweighed by the positives. Every once in a while the Roku will have to reset even though the internet connection is fine - this could be a wireless issue perhaps, but the internet has seemed to be working properly during these occurrences. Also, the Roku 2 is just a little slower at navigating from screen to screen than the Roku 3. If you can spend the money, get a Roku 3. If you'd rather save around $20, get the Roku 2. Great channels, good interface, and very easy to use.

LOVE MY ROKU!

I kept looking at them and considering. When the ROKU2 came out with the headphone jack, I finally got it and I'm so happy I did a few weeks ago.
I've started having some hearing loss and often like to watch TV late on the weekends or listen to it while I'm working late some nights. This way I can actually HEAR everything AND I'm not disturbing anyone else in the house.
I've been using a blu-ray player to stream Netflix for a couple years but have had connection issues sometimes and slow loading due to the location of the WIFI in our house, connecting through a WIFI extension. No problem with ROKU. Loads up super fast and have only had one reboot of a show, which was also quick.
Love the small remote with headphone jack, volume control, easy navigation, quick launch buttons for Netflix and Amazon.

I just love my ROKU! It is easy to set-up & easy to use. I really like being able to sit in my living room and watch streaming TV. Before I had to sit at my computer desk to watch any streaming. Between Netflix & Amazon, I have all the programs I need.

Loved the first one so much, bought another for the bedroom - although it doesn't have voice recognition of commands, it's searching capabilities for all the streaming sites, quality of HD output and general operation make it a real winner. A must have in technology for the home!

Like but don't love it

I bought my Roku a few months ago and although it works I have to unplug the Roku everytime im done using it because it gets too hot and will not work the following day! It is very frustrating. If this did not happen i would be beyond happy with it!
