Great product

I have a Roku on each of our televisions and I love them. They almost never glitch, the picture quality is beautiful, the sound (through the regular outputs) is great, and the interface is very easy to use. I only have a couple minor complaints about the headphones of the Roku 2:
1) The sound quality through the headphones is a bit tinny, but I'm using a cheap pair of headphones because I don't like earbuds and a better quality might help.
2) The battery life is fairly short - about 2 weeks for rechargeables, 3 to 4 weeks for regular alkalines. (And, if the batteries die in the middle of a show, you can't stop or pause until you find some that work!) But I have the volume turned up pretty high because I use it in my exercise room and at more moderate volume levels they may last longer. I started recharging once a week and haven't had any problems.
3) The BlueTooth audio over the headphones drops out occasionally - you have to press pause then play to get it back. But it works through walls and I can wander all through the basement while watching, which is nice.
Overall, for the way I'm using it and at the modest price, I'm very happy with the Roku 2.

I couldn't be happier with Roku 2. Just waiting for an NFL Network Roku channel. Netflix and Amazon are my entertainment and Roku brings it all together.

Great, but freezes sometimes

Like this better than my Apple TV box, I think it's superior and has more channels. The only complaint is it freezes up sometimes and I have to unplug it for a bit and then when I restart it's fine. Hasn't happened while streaming movies, only when watching MLB.tv for a few hours straight.

I used this Roku 2 for almost one year. I love the subtitle option the most.
However, there is problem with the headphone use, not working after several weeks.

a lot of capabilities, but a couple issues

I've had my roku 2 for almost a year. It has a great wireless connection and has performed flawlessly. however there are a few issues that I really dislike.
First, the Netflix app has never updated to allow continuous streaming of a tv show. you have to hit select every time a show ends to continue the season. all my other devices were able to update to the newest Netflix version. why not the roku 2?
Second, there is no power off. I'm sure this little unit doesn't pull much wattage being on 24/7, but it does get hot, which means it is pulling some power. a simple power off would have been a pretty simple addition, one would think.
Third, roku has the most apps, however I typically use for Netflix, Amazon, HBO go, hulu, and YouTube. all these apps are typically built in to most tv's these days making roku somewhat irrelevant but a great addition to a non smart tv.
Fourth, with all the miscellaneous apps on the roku there is a major lack of a good home media streaming app. I have a large amount of content on a nas drive that is not easily accessible from the roku 2.
the roku 2 definitely has some short comings, some of which have been fixed in the roku 3. if you currently have a tv that does not have any smart tv apps the roku devices are easy to use and setup, and the apps run flawlessly. however, if you're looking at a roku I'd definitely spring for the roku 3 due to its updated Netflix app and performance enhancements.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Faster Speed!

I bought this for my new TV, the Roku 2 operates much quicker than the earlier systems. I also love the headphone feature! I now can watch TV without bothering my wife!

first time streaming to TV

Purchased a few months ago to try out for Netflix and RedBox streaming and was told about roku from my daughter. Was easy to setup and works pretty good. Yes a bit sluggish and sparatic acting at times (just this last weekend in the middle of a movie it decided to reboot on its own), but it works pretty good. I wish I could of got the 3 for the better processor but I do not have HDMI. I am still amazed by all this streaming stuff since I grew up with black and white tube TV with antenna on the roof with about 5-6 channels depending on the weather. :) and now to have hundreds of and don't remember how big of a deal the beta/vhs thing was when they came out. Over all I'm pleased with the roku and tell people about it.
