This was recommended to me by a co-worker for it's simplicity. I really love it.

I have both 1 and 2 and considering getting the number 3 to upgrade. They both work good, but sometimes they freeze or can't load the video. It could be the internet or something with the player, but I still recommend. Smart tv's are not worth it because the apps fail and your left with just a tv and money loss.

Doesn't play all mp4 videos with composite output.

I have a Synology server which streams video to 4 Roku 3 perfectly. I bought a Roku 2 because I wanted to use it at a summer cottage and stream all my movies to it. Some would play but the majority gave me a format error. All my videos are converted to mp4 and play perfectly on the Roku 3. After doing some experiments it turns out if the video is HD it won't play if your using the composite outputs. The main reason I bought it was so I could watch my HD movies thinking it converted HD to SD video so I could watch them on an older TV. Big disappointment. All videos do play with HDMI. Roku should make it more obvious that a HD video will not play out of the composite ports. I was on a chat session today with someone explaining the problem and not once did the type of video I was trying to watch HD or SD.
Setting that disappointment a side I do like the Roku. However it would have been nice if they played HD movies, at a lower resolution through the composite ports.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have 2 Roku's. The first one works so well and is so user friendly that I bought a second one for my " so called smart tv " when it quit being smart. Love both of my Roku's!
