Waste of money kept over heating and then freezing up. Had to continuously unplug it. Took it back for a refund. A week of my time I will never get back! Very disappointed!

Almost Great

I have a Roku 1 and a Roku 2. I got the 2 when my Sony Blu-Ray started interfering with download performance. My only complaint is that I miss the Info button and the detail the Blu-Ray player would present. I got the 2 because I was happy with the Roku 1, in the bedroom, and thought the earphone capability would be great, as I have some hearing issues. Unfortunately, it is on or the other: earphones or TV speakers, so I can't use them when anyone else is watching the TV. Also, the sound transmission is subject to random delays and synch issues. For the basics, it is a great streaming device.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ear Pods worked for 1 week

I purchased a Roku a couple of months ago. It came with ear pods, which immediately stopped working after the first week. In fact, when they were plugged into the hand device they shorted it out. So, the ear pieces do not work, which was one main reasons I purchased the Roku. I would like Roku to replace this unit or upgrade it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Required credit card info to activate. For my wife's mother. She does not use credit cards. Unit also froze during the activation process.

Slow Streaming

I was given a Roku 2 as a gift and have had nothing but trouble with it. It is very slow to stream content onto the TV. It constantly interrupts the Netflix movies to load. It is streaming from a Belkin wireless router. The router is at one end of the house, about 60 ft. from the Roku. I got extension cables and moved the router to about 30 ft. from the Roku... no help. I then got an extension cable to extend from the modem directly into the TV to see if it was the TV... the TV had no problem streaming Netflix non stop. I put everything back to it's original configuration and set my Dell laptop next to the Roku and TV and the Dell had no problem streaming Netflix using the same wireless signal that goes to the Roku. 
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it but not for a large room!

I purchased this back in October and have had issues with signal since. I tried to get an exchange but was told I could not. But I could purchase a new remote?? Um Ok, it was only 35 days I had the device, yes my fault for not acting quicker. Either way we moved it into the bedroom, it works better but I still have to twist and turn and do a little dance to get the darn thing to respond. Other than that it's just OK, I do love Roku though and purchased the R3, much better signal! Smooth quick response.
I would recommend this to a friend!
