WOW, now I have a smart TV

We recently signed up for Netflix.  Our family room has a smart TV, but the master bedroom is a Samsung flat screen, without Internet connectivity.  After researching available products, I decided on the Roku 3.  I was afraid it would be a connectivity nightmare, but since I have an extensive background in IT, I was not too concerned.
To my surprise, the onscreen guide was simple and once I set up the account on the Roku website, we were watching Netflix.  I would say from opening the box to connecting to Netflix was less than 30 minutes.
Great product, fair price and easy to setup and use.  
Be sure to have an HDMI cable available since there isn't one included with the device. 
I would recommend this to a friend!

Useless since intro of Roku 3

I have had my Roku 2 XD for over a couple of years and it was great. Since the intro of Roku 3, I now have GREAT difficult downloading anything on any of my channels - acorntv, Netflix, amazon. It can take up to 5 minutes to download and then it continues to lose the download and have to start downloading again. Checked settings and this occurs even though the wifi connection states excellent. Seems like Roku isn't concerned about older boxes only selling Roku 3.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use

We've had our Roku for about 6 months now. We LOVE it! It was easy to hook up to the TV, and operates great, and is VERY easy to use. We enjoy the channel choices, and I am constantly searching for new channels that come along.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought 3 of these and the remotes are all paired except they do nothing. I've been happy with my other rokus in the house. Its this model that is particularly frustrating.

Loved it at first easy set-up lasted 600 days. Manufacturer needs to improve device
Tech support tried. Make sure you get a extended warranty if you are going to use this on a daily basis.

I have yet to be able to watch more than 3-4 minutes of any program I've attempted to watch. It will not keep the network connection, yet in the same room 2 laptops, a tv and a DVR and a dvd player all connect well and stay connected.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Product....BUT

I now have 2 Roku players, my goal was to eliminate Cable and Roku enable me to do so. but with the purchase of each Roku, I have had connection problems which required me to go into a secret screen and make adjustments. 1) had to go to secret screen to 'enable internet ping'. 2) had to go to secret screen ' to update software. 3) Roku apps wont connect to my network(still working with Roku Support on this problem). Overall, once the first 2 problems were resolved the player performs excellent. These initial problems just continue to be annoying.

I've been looking for a way to stream programs and movies to my Hd TV since my laptop got old and died.  I found out about Roku and, after researching, reading reviews and talking to people who had one, I decided to take the plunge.  After a little technical difficulty on setup, I called tech support and got a very helpful guy who walked me thru the simple reboot of my roku and my router and voila, all the programs, music, and movies at my command that I could possibly want.  Great 1080i picture and super sound.
I would recommend this to a friend!
