The best and the worst

When we first got it it worked well. Not the easiest thing to set up, but we were able to do it. Then it started screwing up seemingly for no reason, that is, there were no changes that would explain it. Seems very easy for the remote and audio to get out of sync then it takes considerable effort and many retries to get it synced up.

Satisfying & affordable TV entertainment

Times are hard and money is tight and ROKU is a satisfying option to cut your ties with the high cost of cable or satellite TV. I was paying $130.00 a month for three receivers. From here on out I pay only for what I want such as HULU PLUS and NETFLIX. The total monthly cost of these are far below what I was paying.
For me, I purposely purchase the ROKU 2 model because its designed for those who have older components without HDMI capability. ROKU 2 provides the RCA connections that I'm currently using. I removed the satellite receiver and plugged in ROKU 2 and it worked the first time without me having to modify any of my other devices.
With ROKU I have multiple means to watch movies and TV shows (old and new) in which ever way I wish to go. Another major benefit is that the ROKU device is also capable in being used for accessing "Stream Live TV Online" such as provided by "AEREO" (if available in your area), in order to catch local channels for news, TV programs and watching sporting events. Today I was happy to notice ROKU now offers YouTUBE for all of their devices. A nice extra feature for entertainment. And ROKU is constantly adding more channels to their list for viewers choices.
Anyway...TV entertainment is now more affordable for my families viewing pleasure.
Thank you ROKU

I do like the access it provides to many entertainment channels. Personally, I only use two. The only shortcoming that I run into all the time is that the batteries don't last as long as other devices, such as a phone, camera, or a Kindle. I was told that the batteries get very strong use when the earphones are connected (which I have to use so as not to disturb anyone at night). I don't know the technicals as to why the remote has to stay on all the time, but it is a design issue that needs to be addressed.
Also, I have received excellent support service on all my questions I have asked about.

I have bought 4 Roku's already and it seems that the newer version are a worst product than the first ones. I had 2 of the older models and those lasted me about one year each and I had the extension warranty. The selection screen started scrolling up and down on its own, we replaced the batteries in the remote and that didn't work. It restarted itself all the time so we just replaced it we the new version of Roku. One product after the next are a terrible product. We are on our forth Roku product and it will be our last. I just started experiencing problems with my current Roky and I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS! will just buy a smart tv next time.

Glad I Upgraded!

I've used two early Roku's for several years and updated to see if a newer unit would resolve some performance issues. My new Roku 2 is a significant improvement over my older XD/S's. I can stream Netflix again (Netflix stopped working due to their last update), I can stream Netflix in HD, Netflix rebuffering has ended as has picture quality stepdowns during a stream. All newer channels are available. (My old Roku's could not stream some newer channels.) The Roku 2 displays menus faster and the new menu system is convenient. One drawback is that the Roku remote has to be used to delete a channel. This is a minor inconvenience since I use a universal remote.

I enjoy my Roku 2. Exact solution I was looking for to get TV streaming functionality on my TV. Un-expensive from price, used space, and power consumption perspective. Plus a great quality, of course. Initial setup and adding of desired channels was easy and took not more than 10-15 minutes. Actually the whole user interface is simple, intuitive and friendly. Headphone connection on remote control is a very convenient feature. I have just two suggestions: Hope Roku will add YouTube in the future and support non-English characters (it’s useful in case of International music channels).
