We love our Roku 2. Mostly use it to stream Netflix. We would give it a Five Star rating if it had a YouTube Channel.

I got hooked on streaming Netflix through my Wii on my low-def TV a few years ago, so when I got my 1080p big screen, I wanted a high def streaming device. I bought a cheap blu-ray player that boasted of such abilities...but it was sloooow loading any kind of content. I picked up a Roku 2 and haven't looked back. I hooked the HDMI cable directly to the TV with optical audio out to my receiver (which had no HDMI inputs).

I'm planing on buying another Roku soon.
I cancelled my cable, bought an antenna, and upped my internet speed. Saving about $60/month.
YouTube and/or an internet browser would be cool additions to the Roku lineup, currently not available.
One annoying thing - about once every other day, the Roku will reset in the middle of a program. Not sure if this a Netflix issue or a Roku issue. It only happens on Netflix, never on HULU on VUDU or any other channel.
For the money I'm saving (and lack of commercials) I can live with this issue.

Cannot live without it!

We purchased this little device in order to get Acorn (British shows) just before Christmas 2013. Installation was easy. We are hooked and have already cut premium channels from cable and now we are cutting much more. News offerings are terrible but that's okay. Only problem is buffering when shows won't load or continue during busy use times (is that the problem?). Choices are fantastic. Am buying another one for my den and then another for my sister in New York who has basic cable and this will expand her viewing options terrifically, plus she definitely will use headphones with the remote. Thank you Roku and Acorn - we love this!

A great way to add streaming to your TV

Overall, a great system for streaming video from various content providers. I used to use my PS3 to stream Netflix and Hulu Plus but switched to Roku because it also streams HBO GO. Also, the headphone jack on the remote is great for not disturbing others at night.
If the Netflix interface for TV series episodes were better (the episodes should be sorted by season), and if it could stream Youtube, I would give it 5 stars.

Thoughts on the new Roku 2

The new Roku 2 is a great step up from my older Roku XD. The new 2 is loaded with features that work well for me. For example, the Roku 2 can use the 5Ghz band on my newer wifi router so I always get full HD viewing.
There is an earphone jack and volume control on the remote. I wasn’t sure how useful this would be but almost immediately found myself needing to work in the kitchen for a few minutes. I still wanted to follow the program I was streaming so I plugged in the provided earbuds and the Roku2 switched the audio from the TV’s speakers to the earbuds. I stuck the remote in my pocket and continued to enjoy my program while completing my task.
This may not be new but after installing the new Roku 2, I was looking at the Roku app on my iPhone and realized that it was far more than another remote for my new Roku 2. From the app I was able to easily stream the pictures and videos on the iPhone to create a slide show on my TV… no cables or fuss. The Roku 2 handled everything.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got Roku 2XD yesterday and have been happily streaming. I am middle aged and not very tech savvy and set up and using it is easy. I am using an old TV (only has yellow and white plugs, no red) and it works perfectly, I am amazed that this little Roku box does so much. I had to figure out how to unhide my SSID so Roku could detect it - the Roku forum helped me figure it out quickly. It is awesome to be able to watch my Amazon Prime content on TV, rather than a laptop. Plex is another channel that has a lot of programming that I like and have not even looked at most of the others available, you do have to research how to get the content you want. Shipping was quick and it arrived in perfect condition.
