Worth the money for one series

I was given this as a gift and after a month I've realized just one series I have been watching would have cost more than 4 Roku if I had purchased the DVD collection. I am just expanding my searches for other programs and movies and with my amazon prime account I'm beginning to wonder if I even need cable tv at all.

Loving Roku and free from the Matrix Comcast Directv etc. All the big networks are following this model already on demand. Don't need thousands of channels of garbage content! Only worry is that Comcast buys them when they go public! Or buys all the content up.

Best media player on the market

I have had an Apple TV for many years. I found out about the Roku and its many features so I gave it a try. What a difference. It is a far superior product to the Apple TV and I have recommended it to all my friends.

Misleading

I purchased this box for instant access to movies. It's great being able to stream Netflix and Hulu easily but my main reason of purchasing this was to use the redbox channel. Which is advertised on the box. There is no redbox channel. Very disappointed

I love the vast array of channels and contents types available, and we are saving a ton after dropping cable. However, the one thing that kept me from giving it a five-star rating is the lack of parental controls. My son knows what he is and isn't allowed to watch, but it is too easy for him to pick a movie with an R rating while I'm at work and Mom is folding laundry in the other room. Yes, some of the responsibility falls on the parent, but if my TV has built in safe guards, why can't my Roku? I'd also love to see more cable channels available (without a cable subscription) even with a monthly subscription fee, but I know the manufacturers have little control over this.

My Roku 2 Is amazing, I have never had a problem with it. If I could change one thing it would be to have purchased it sooner. 5 stars all the way.
