Love the Roku 2

We bought the Roku 2 when it recently went on sale. We have been Roku customers for several years and needed to upgrade our 2 older boxes with 2 new ones with more storage and features. (We were not able to access some of the new programming). They arrived within 2 days and they were as easy to hook up as the older ones were. We were able to access all the new programming and then discovered the headphone jack on the remote... Boy was that a Godsend for us as my husband watches TV much later than I stay up. Now I can fall asleep quietly and he can continue to watch shows until he gets tired. The "loading" issue is still there, but I'm glad that I purchased these when they were on sale from Roku. For an extra $30, I didn't feel like I needed to go to Roku 3. The Roku associate on "Chat" told me there were few differences that would affect ME between Roku 2 and Roku 3. I'll just save that $30 per box and upgrade again in a couple of years.

I've had my Roku 2 since November. Easy setup. No problems to report. Livestreaming has been a savior. And Roku made that happen. I'm on a fixed income, due to disability. One of the branches I pruned off the tree, was my satellite service. With no regrets either. There's plenty of entertainment, at budget prices, and some are free as well. Compatibility should be Roku's middle name. Firstly, I run all video through A/V Receivers and Speakers. However, of my 4 receivers and 4 TV's as well. The newest receiver I have is now about 7 years old. Hence, there is no HDMI plugs on any of them. But, the Roku 2 provided RCA (analog) jacks for sound as well. In my world, there's no more disappointing sound, than what comes out of TV speakers. Having Digital (HDMI) sound capability, obviously would be #1. But Analog (RCA) sound capability is still 100x better than TV speakers. Setting up the wireless network was a breeze. But, I can not honestly make an opinion either way on it's signal strength. Since this Roku 2 is only about 15 ft. away from the router. I plan to purchase more Roku's. Depending on location and distance, I may need the route of wired (ethernet) connection. Will try to comment again, if I purchase another Roku 2, and more distance or precarious location play a different part in it's reception....Sorry for so long of a review, but I believe in helping out someone, where details to the fullest make a difference in trying to decide what is best for them, when it comes to purchasing products. Thanks for reading..:o)

I was hooked up and going in under 10min (including opening a Netflix account). I am not a good "read the instructions first" kind of guy, but because everything was very intuitive, I had no problems. The real work comes in trying to figure out what out of the thousands of channels to add to my guide. There were many I have never even heard of before. I also love the earphone option on the remote. I am sure that my channel surfing is far less annoying to the rest of my family that way. I give a strong recommendation to this product!

What can I say, I have a Roku on every TV in our house now. I bought the Roku2 because I loved that even though it was not the top of the line model, it still could use Wireless-N and the remote supports headphones (they plug right into the remote) so you can listen in private in the event you have people over, your little ones are sleeping or you just want to stick the remote in your pocket like an MP3 player and stream Pandora, Amazon MP3 or Radio Paradise to the ear buds/headphones you are wearing them and working around the house (I get about 30-40 feet of range). The price point is incredible for what you get. The extra hot keys (e.g. Netflix, Amazon) on the remote are a nice touch too; nice that I can just press them once and it goes right to the channel.

This is a great product, except Netflix app doesn't support user profiles. This is a huge fail for me, since I mainly use the Roku for Netflix.

Good player, sloppy set up

I own 2 Roku players and they do everything they are supposed to do. They are small, full of features, and easy to use. What I am not a fan of is that Roku makes you give a credit card when you sign up. I've had to call them up to set up my players each time. Until this step becomes optional, I'm going to have a hard time recommending the player to others.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was not sure should I get this kind of device or not but finally I got it and I am very pleased with it.
No need to connect computer or any other device to TV if you want to watch stuff on TV instead of computer. All in one place.
In box: It has everything you need in order to connect to TV.
Set-up: Took 10 min. It's very easy even normal layman person can followup.
Remote Control: It has headphone connection, I really love that.
User Interface: Moving around menu is very easy and clear.
Size: It's very small, it can fit any where.
No need for high network bandwidth: I am able to stream over 1.5 MB DSL without any issue.
Bottom line: it's worth to have device, I love it.
