Totally Awesome!

I am so happy to have finally gotten one of these. I bugged my husband for months and when I finally got it. I was so excited. I love it!! I got the Roku hdmi streaming stick first but I wasn't able to have sound through the home theater system. So I did return it just for that reason. It was pretty cool that o could move it to other tvs but I wanted it to work with our blu Ray surrond sound so I purchased the roku 2 with the s jacks and was able to connect te sound like I wanted. This product is awesome and I recommend it to everyone. Especially if you don't have a smart tv you can get all the features and extras that would come built in on the tv with the roku. Best thing I ever bought!!

I bought the roku 2 because it came with head phones. The ones that came with the unit are terrible, but by using my i phone set with it it is much better. I have trouble with the original set only picking up one channel and breaks up a lot which greatly interferes with trying to keep with the dialog!

Best Streaming Device Yet! ; Picky Remote Issues

So this is my second Roku. I have an older Roku 2 and now a newer Roku 2 that to me seems slightly faster and has the upgraded remote. Roku is great and I'm a BIG Mac user and hate Apple TV that doesn't offer the third-party app choices Roku does. I use my Roku devices to access ESPN 3, Netflix, and so much more.
Because I didn't want to pay a one-time fee AND a monthly rental for another satellite box (are you paying attention DirecTV?), I'm using the newer Roku 2 in my bedroom and it offers a level of flexibility in programming without a total compromise. Being that I have a Slingbox on my living room TV, I can easily stream my DirecTV feed into the bedroom via the Roku and not have to pay any additional fees. That's REAL choice as far as I'm concerned.
My only complaint (albeit a small one) about the newer Roku 2 is the remote. I don't understand why Roku moved the 'OK' confirmation button from between the up and down arrows on older remotes. On my previous Roku 2 is was so much simpler to use my thumb all in one little space without having to move down again to the 'OK' button, which is now located below the arrow controls. I also wish the three direct access buttons for Netflix, Pandora and a like were customizable for the channels I want, but it's not a big deal breaker.
The bottom line...I love Roku. It's what Apple TV SHOULD have been and what Chromecast or Kindle Fire wish they were. Making third-party developers have the freedom to create their own apps (which if Apple ever allows this will be much more restrictive for sure) was one of the best creative and strategic moves Roku ever made and to a large extent is the difference between Roku and the competition.

I BOUGHT A ROKU 3 IN AUGUST AND A 2 IN NOVEMBER.MAKE SURE BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY I DIDN'T
Whats good, almost everything with the Box except no shut off switch has a tendency to freeze and you have to pull plug and restart Ido not like to keep pulling the plug and restart thats the good stuff.The bad,the remote, I bought these two models because of the Headphone Jack because my wife and I need C C some times,first of all if you use the headphone jack it uses batterys like theres no tomorrow,recgargeables are a must,these remotes should have been rechargeable no mention of that in manuals.I already lost the volum control on the Roku 3 so I have lost that remote for what i bought that unit for.No recorse.Buy the cheaper unit if you don't need the headphone jack.

Got two roku 2 boxes to get rid of cable tv . Has worked ok. Boxes freeze up and you have to unplug it to let it reset.
