Does it's job, but....

Have used the Roku 2 for for several months now and it's been a love-hate relationship. Love the fact that it is super easy too set up and use. Love the fact that it receives an overwhelming amount of channels. Love the fact that it has an audio jack on the remote to plug headphones into for private listening. Hate the fact that the audio cuts in and out while using the headphones. This happens on any of the headphones I plug into it. This was the main reason I spent the extra money on the "2". Sound quality is great but the cutting in and out negates this feature. Buy the Roku it's a great product just pass on the "2"
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Exceeded my expectations!

I knew that once I got my Roku 2 set up that I would love it; I was tired of paying ridiculous cable bills, and the available programming looked like everything I'd need. I was a little intimidated when I thought about the installation, though. I'm a completely non-technical person . . . it probably took no more than three minutes! I do have very basic cable (my physical location prevents use of a digital antenna), but having a Roku means that I have tons of other programming at my fingertips. While I do wish that some of the available Roku channels carried a full menu of broadcast station programs, that's more because the stations themselves don't make the programming available.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Function little box

This is a great little box that I use to stream content from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, PBS, Plex and a handful of other specialized providers (NHL, Smithsonian, TedTalks). Content selection with the providers I use is 5-stars. Content delivery in terms of quality is also 5-stars. There are only 2 deductions I can give the Roku 2. The first is the for the Roku 2's lack of support for the latest Netflix UI that I see on my newer Roku 3. The second is more general - text entry using the remote is pretty tedious. I realize it's not possible to include a full-sized keyboard with a product designed to be small and sleek but perhaps there are other alternatives (ex, Amazon's Fire TV).

Great way to watch TV

We have been using our Roku for a couple of months and really enjoy it. The choices of shows on Netflix have been really good. I am a true techno phobe and set up the Roku in about a minute with no trouble at all. The only problem we have is that the Roku box itself becomes very hot, even when not in use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had some problems getting some shows to play and also spend a lot of time waiting for them to load, both before and during viewing. I am not sure if this is a function of the Roku or my connection speed. Still have enjoyed being able to watch a TV rather than a computer screen

Okay but has problems

I enjoy the variety of programming I can get through my Roku 2 which is probably around 8 months now since purchase. However, there are a couple design and operation features which do not work as well as I'd like. The headphones which came with my unit did not work, but I replaced them with other headphones from a telephone set, and they work fine. If I accidentally hit a wrong button on the remote, I sometimes have to start the process of watching something all over again, which means selecting, watching ads before program or movie starts, etc. Another problem is that sometimes the entire device simply stops working. A couple times I was never able to complete a movie because after an ad, everything freezes, permanently. Starting the movie over, the movie freezes in the same place the next time. Also, I go through batteries like crazy, unlike my next door neighbor who has never replaced batteries in 3 years. I started using rechargeables so I don't go broke. When the battery is low, the device stops working then also. I would still recommend roku, however.
