Excellent Product and less than the Roku 3

I cut the cable cord months ago, but I didn't want to spend a lot on a streaming device. I was advised to buy the Roku 2 instead of the 3. I'm happy. I already had subscriptions to Hulu, Crunchyroll, Netflix and Dramafever so to watch them on a large screen instead of my laptop is great. Two drawbacks - 1. YouTube is slow on Roku 2. The fix is to bring up shows on your phone and stream to your TV that way. Much faster. 2. There are still some websites that don't have Roku channels yet, such as Viki, and Soompi TV (not really a Roku problem). Overall, I'm satisfied.

Terrible free movies with way too many commercials. Everything else you can either get on cable/ sat. tv or have to pay for after a teasing free trial. Very disappointing for me. Plus it's tedious to have to go back on my phone or pc to register for many of these channels.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

FYI: Roku will NOT give you free access to most tv channels unless you already have a subscription to a cable provider. You can access some movies, shows...etc, but most of what is free is garbage. However, History channel will give you past episodes and they are good. I get Dirty Jobs, American Pickers, Duck Dynasty and some of the other popular shows from past episodes. Good weather page from Weather Underground if you want local weather. Pandora is good for music.

I have owned the roku 2 for about a month now and I am very happy with it. I like that there are free channels to watch as well as paid channels as well. I re started using Netflix and I love it.

We have a room set aside just for working out. Up until we got the ROKU we were stuck with DVDs. Now, we have a multitude of things to watch while working out ! Make a huge difference !

This product is SUPER slow. It also needs software upgrades. You can't manage profiles on Netflix, which I'm sure everyone with a Roku uses.
